I Will Tell You My Requirements

1 :I Use This system For Logical Data Recovery Work @ Home .The Min Req Is That the Boards Should Have 4 Sata Ports And Min 2 IDE Ports .I Also Want the Following Parallel and Serial Port For Experimenting With Electronic And Using Legacy Software Protections .So I Had Recently Upgraded To The Following System

1 :Processor :AMD Athlon X2 4200+ Socket 939
2 :Motherboard :ASUS A8N-E REv 2.00 " Has 4 SATA + 2IDE + 1 Parallel + 1 Serial "
3 :Corsair XMS3200 512MB X 2 Dual Channel @ 400 Mhz And 2.2.2.5
4 :SMPS :Antec BP 350 " +5 @ 20 Amps ,+12V @ 10Amps ,+12 @ 13 Amps ,+3.3 @ 20 Amps ,-12V @ .3 Amps And +5 SB 2 2.5Amps.
5 :Cabinet Is Centurion From Coolermaster Fitted With 1 120mm Fan in the Front To Cool My Internal HDD and 1 120mm Fan in The Rare To Take The Hot Air Out .
6 :The system Was Also Fitted With The thermalright 90A With a Panasonic 90mm Fan.
7 :Raptor 74 GB and a WDC 1TB HDD was Also Fitted Also Was a ASUS DVD Writer .

I Used To Get Many System Freezes And BSOD Errors When i Had The 500 Watts Antec ,I Though the SMPS Was Bad So I Changed The Same To The One i Currently Have But the SBOD Error Still Comes But Rarely .I Am Fedup With This Error And Hence Decided To Update ,Before I Do This i Wanted To Know What is The Issue With the Present Setup i Have .After Some of You Respond i Will Tell You To What i Am Planning To Update Cos i Have To Complete That system Today .

Forgot a Few Things ,I Have The Leadtek 6600GT @ 256 MB Ram Also ,PCI Express .I Also Use the Following

1 :Dlink Lan Card PCI To Have 2 LANS In The system
2 :Firewire Card For Capturing PCI again
3 :PCI Card With 1 IDE And 2 More SATA Cards

Processor :Intel Core2Duo E6600 "Buyback CPU From Client"
Motherboard :ASUS P5NSli "Buyback Board From Client"
Ram :Corsair Value Ram DDR-II @ 667 Mhz 1GB X 4 or 2 "Buyback From Client"
Graphic Card :ASUS 8600GT 256 MB "Buyback From Client
Floppy Drive :1.44 Any Brand "I Already Have"
Hard disc :WDC Raptor 74 GB & WDC 10EACS Green Power 1TB For Data Backup "I Already Have This "
Keyboard :Logitech or TVSE Gold "I Already Have"
Mouse :Microsoft USB "I Already Have"
Cabinet :Coolermaster Centurion 532 "I Already Have"
SMPS :Antec BP 350 "I Have"
DVD Writer :ASUS "I Already Have Serial ATA "
Sound Card "Inbuilt In the ASUS P5NSLi"
Speakers "Mercury 2.1 Very Old Hence Sound OK "
CPU Fan "Stock Cooler From Intel " will Change To TRUE

So These Are The Question i Have ...

1 :As i Am Planning To Use a Thermalright TRUE 120 Extreme With MX2 ,Whats The Most Highest Possible Speed of a 24X7 Overclocked CPU Speed.I Have Fitted The True After Applying MX2 .I Plan To Use a Midium RPM Fan From Panasonic .Once i Get The High CFM i Could Use That Also .

2 :The ASUS Board Fits All My Requirements But I did The Following To The Same Have a Look

You See That It Does Not Have Any Heatsink On The South Bridge To I Cleaned And Applied MX2 To The Same And Fitted a South Bridge Cooler Extracted From a Old Dead ASUS A7n266-VM .

Without The Heatsink .




With the Heatsink




I Also Took The north Bridge Out and Cleaned The Old Junk Heat Grease And Applied MX2 To the Same ,This Still Needs Attention Cos it Really Gets Very Very Hot And It Is a Passive Cooling Product .I Need To Do Something On This Definately

3 :I Could Change The Ram To Something Diff If You Suggest This Will Not Let Me Overclock The System And Still Keep It Stable ,I Have Hell of Stock of OCZ :tongue:

4 :My Elder Daughter is Now Growing Up And I Want The system To run Decent Games Basic Type ,I Had a Leadtek 6600 Card which i Think is Still OK ,But i Have Purchased Many Many 8600Gt Cards ,So A Swap To That Will Not Hurt ,I Plan To Put Mx2 In The Card Heatsink Also .

5 :Cabinet :I Would Like To Keep This One But In this I Am Not Able To Rotate the TRUE To Throw The Air Backside ,But Only UpSide .Here Have a Look



Will This Pose a Problem Or Its Fine,

6 :SMPS :What Should i Go For As i Have The BP350 ,I Think My SMPS Could Be Underpowered even In The Older Setup Cos i Was Getting BSOD

Amarbir, If you are going to use this machine for hard disk data recovery, I recommend that you do not over clock it at all. I lost data on one of my hard disks after a failed over clock when the system because unstable. Even if you over clock, don't go overboard.

Also recommend you to use an Intel chipset based motherboard with C2D if you want max system stability.

Yup You Are Right ,But Before I Do My Final Window Installation :rofl: i Will Check for system stability and everything .Peeps What Are The Idle And Load Temps Of The E6600 With The True .The Coolermaster LED Fan i Am Using Is Working at Low RPM And The Processor Is HOTOOOOOOOOOTttttttttt

I Am Gonna Change The Fan On The TRUE First ,The Coolermaster LED Fan Is Basically a Case Cooler So Its Doing a dirty Job Of Controlling The Heat ,Secondly Its Vibrating .What All Software In Wondows Do You Want Me To Test the system stability Etc etc

Please avoid overclocking your new system or if you do overclock, be careful about the speeds the PCI bus will be running at. As this will be a data recovery system, you would be better off if it just runs stable :)

You can use a program like Orthos to test the system stability, keep it running overnight or longer and if it doesnt crash or lock up then you are doing fine :hap2:

You Are Right The PCI Bus Will Crash Many DR softwares And Many HDD Will Crash .

:( Then there Is No Need Of the True I Can Use The Ultime 90 Then ,Its Would Be Best To Keep The system stable .As Far As That Stupid North Bridge Is concerned I thing I would Bake My Tommorow Toast On That It Is that Hot .

PS :Still No suggestion On The SMPs Part Guys
 
Well if you really want complete peace of mind...get a Corsair VX450....

I know I might sound thr goes another VX suggestion but....if you really want a silent stable PSU which is the best in its class get a VX450

Other options (which almost everyone knows by heart now :bleh:)

1) POV 500w

2) Coolermaster 460W

3) VIP FSP OEM psu

Choice is upto you based on budget and requirements

Dunno much abt OCing ..so can't say anything

Why dont you use a NB cooler, i think you shouldnt have any trouble sourcing one :)

The Ultima 90 should be more than sufficient for you, at the most you can add another fan to it!

The Post Above Is Not Correct the PCI Set Can Be Individually controlled .I Read a Article At Extremesystems Regarding The Same .I Will Keep the PCI Bus To 33.3 and Do The Rest Of The Overclocking E6600 Kee Aaisee Keee Taiseee .Punjabi Spirit Is Back :rofl:

So i Am Planning To Keep The True ,But I Saw The Temps In The BIOS With Default BIOS Setting They Were

Idle :40 Degree With the Panasonic Medium CFM Fans .I Am Sad What Are The Idle Temps Of This CPU Peeps .As Far As The North Bridge Is Concerned See This .




I Ripped the North Bridge Cooler Of The ASUS A8N-E I Am Planning To Take Out ,the NB Was Cold ,The Native Cooler From ASUS For The P5NSLI is Very Very Hot

Yes sir, if you keep the PCI bus locked to 33.3 you should not have any trouble. I only suggested that you be careful about overclocking and keep in mind the pci bus speeds when overclocking :hap2:
