Well-informed individuals have known about the upcoming death of the S60 platform some time – unfortunately, some (influential) individuals had Yucca leaves in their ears during the announcement and continue to peddle dangerous and wrong information.

I on my part never liked UI of a Symbian phone, but yeah that mine personal opinion.

Yes, Its clear the Qt toolkit/UI has a bright future... for example check out the recent Qt Kinetic demo video, just like Apple UI smoothness which is saying a lot I think my next "internet media" device will be a Nokia even though I used to dislike them before...

Never really liked the S60 interface, after buying an N-series phone and using it for about 3-4 months, you can see the slowness.

See the N900 rover mini tablet/MID with some good connectivity options. personally i would prefer a slightly larger (maybe 7 inch) form factor maybe something like the existing N810 wimax tablet:
