Need help in deciding an air conditioner - 1 ton vs 1.5 ton

Ya, surprisingly I visited Croma today. Their prices are a little higher.
Croma guys kept saying samsung and panasonic are good. The store I visited today, the salesmen weren't trained good enough.
Do check online also....i bought online from croma though there offline price was more.

Except for Vijay, all the stores had idiots worst experience was in Bajaj and Pai, they spoke absolute nonsense for 5mins.

Ya agree. Bajaj and reliance are shit tier for me, pai was okay but they don't have get enough stock to sell.
Vijay was surprising when I went to buy oven. Even checked ACs and they were willing to explain everything I asked.
Only thing is, salesmen are salesmen, sometimes they lie.

Online has the same price maybe 1k difference, the feature page in Croma is just barebones, cant see if the model has wifi or not without searching the model number in LG site.
I think 2024 stock is totally over, no one even tried to sell me an older 2024 model

Correct. Croma guy was just seeing their own website and answering my questions and doing comparison by using the same site to see diff between 2 models.
Like, dude anyone can see that, what are you here for really...How these people get such jobs.

I too was interested in Daikin and was my 1st pref bcz my neighbors suggested (they were not happy with their 2020 LG 3 star AC), but hearing that they have only 3rd party service providers and some redditors complained Daikin had terrible service in their neighborhoods (some areas in Hyd), I couldn't go with Daikin.

For Daikin after sales support depends on where one buys from, I've 4 Daikin ACs in Ahmedabad, units bought from Future Solutions (big dealer distributor) have very good support and prompt service, while units bought from Flipkart they've assigned namesake service provider (even damaged 1 indoor unit due to faulty wiring during installations, it took couple of days more to get replacement from Daikin)

Objectively these Daikin ACs are insanely quiet and cools quickly, previously had IFB, Panasonic, Videocon ACs which I replaced.

I tend to avoid Daikin seeing the experience of my neighbor. I am in Tier 1 city.
He ordered the ac online, the installation guys found smthg was missing and the whole thing was a mess.
Even installation guys seemed so unprofessional. So seeing them atleast, made me rethink.
Depends on city, yes, but depends even on area as well.

My mom went directly to some Daikin Store in Miyapur. She is so impressed, she has become a lifelong Daikin Customer. Suffice to say if you buy Daikin, buy it directly from the supplier not some third party store.

Glad that she had such good experience. Even though I liked Daikin but could not go with it. Most of the service people in our area (no matter the company) don't seem professional or decent.

Congrats man...let me know how it is, with installation and performance.
Obviously it would be very good for your small room.
Got it installed.

Initial Impressions

Installation - 3/5. Personnel was knowledgeable but no vacuum and botched the drain pipe first time, called him again reported within 30 mins.

Performance - 4/5. If you want the room to cool fast af go for Daikin or Panasonic. LG takes its time. Running it at 40% capacity at the moment and is able to cool the room fine, maybe need to run it at 80% capacity once "summer" starts. The Wi-Fi and other features seem great and are doing what there are supposed to.

if I buy the convertible AC or is that just a marketing gimmick.
Marketing gimmick.

Lower % mode will take longer to cool. But otherwise, they all take almost equal electricity.

It might help if you want to run AC on an inverter or UPS without them tripping. I once ran my 1.5ton on computer UPS for a fun experiment. Other than that, never changed the convertible modes.

Turns out it is not a marketing gimmick, the electricity consumption does reduce significantly. Buy a smart plug if you want to validate your AC.
looking to buy one for myself but tilting more towards the panasonic model - Panasonic AC
Check local stores to know about Panasonic service availability, in Hyd panasonic has a bad rep with almost all stores.

Yup I did that. Checked it for 2 months. Kept a meticulous log in spreadsheet. Tried all combinations. Calculated through several formulas.

Turned out, if you have a 5 star AC, no matter what mode we try, they all consume same amount of energy to bring room to the same temperature.

Yeah, some modes work slower than others but that's the only difference I found.

I haven't experienced daikin yet, but based on what I heard daikin/panso cool slightly faster. Meanwhile lg just takes a little more time to cool compared to those. But is very silent. Sometimes I wonder if it got switched off.

Besides that, the smart/wifi features are very useful nowadays.

Which AC do you have. Mine gave a live reading of .55KWh on 40% and 1kWh on full load. Maybe it evens out in the end.

Panasonic.

The readings that you see aren't fixed. If you put AC on auto mode, you'll see it uses anywhere from 0.02 kw to 1kw.

Cooling your room is like filling a bucket. No matter how much you throttle the flow of water by turning the tap, it's still going to the same amount of water to fill it.

The auto mode is convenient on the most ACs. It'll get you to the set temperature fast and if your AC comes with bells and whistles features, you can use them too.
