Need help in deciding an air conditioner - 1 ton vs 1.5 ton

LG installation was free IIRC. We haven't had the need for LG ASS in last 3-4 years (touch wood).

For Daikin, the installation is sometimes free (during offers) and sometimes not free it seems. So please double-check if your chosen brand and model has free installation. I chose Daikin this time as it was recommended by someone I trust in these matters (I know nothing about ACs myself - LOL).

Here is a way to improve "coverage". Put the AC on the desired temperature and also put the ceiling fan on a low speed. This hack helps a lot with comfort in the corners especially.

Never has my Mitsubishi AC disapppointed, makes us feel like we are in a hill station in like 5 minutes max, and then we stay their.

Even for 1.5 ton those are like 70k+ isn't it?

do the following calculation when buying. you will find the cooling capacity mentioned in the bee star label sticker.
12000 BTU = 1 TON
Cooling capacity*3.412 = BTU of ac
BTU of ac/12000 = actual tonnage

They are using such clever tactics now. Calls it 2 ton but has only 6100w cooling capacity. Now there is even another confusing thing, in cooling capacity they say min 5000w and max 5800w, instead of one value.

They even started not showing specs info in manuals.
 
Following is my experience with air conditioners your mileage may vary greatly depending on your region. This is my experience in Chennai

LG: Great service, but felt cooling was a little lacking compared to Panasonic.
Panasonic: Never done any service till now, installation was prompt. Also great feature package for a reasonable price bought 1.5 ton for around 35k in 2022 I guess
Midea: Cheap 1.5 ton 3 star from croma for 20k. Installation again no delay also did vacuum which did suprise me. I think future spares won't be an issue since midea is like an OEM for many other brands also.
Hitachi and daikin were bought way earlier but are still chugging on but stories from friends and family about their new models are not that good seems like they don't have much presence now.
Voltas was like the gold standard in non inverter but their inverter models haven't been a hit don't know if it's a quality issue or whether they don't market well enough.
Samsung heard good things about their windfree models rest not sure about their cooling capacity.
Mitsubishi and O General are great ac but be ready to pay a premium and if something breaks spares are questionable since they are not manufactured here I think? not sure

Ai is a gimmick but their app which shows stats like energy usage and wifi connectivity/linking with alexa is useful.4 way swing is nice. Samsung website has card offers also will be easier to schedule installation and future service/warranty claims.

The panasonic sold on croma costing 45k is 2023 model.

For the 55k one, I am accounting installation charges also into the budget. Let's see going to visit offline stores this weekend will try to get free installation.
 
Ratings haven't changed for the past 3 years so shouldn't be an issue:

That is feature of convertible/inverter ACs. Running at a lower tonnage when required. Technically we should should be calculating using max power, but is that max sustainable power, we never know.

How did you calculate the units used, do you have a smart plug?

And star is not only thing to go by, you need to check the ISEER rating, cheap 5 star acs just barely pip the 5.00 rating making them equal to a 4 star ac which are generally 4.8ish. 5.2 and up is what you should consider if rating is important to you

- got samsung's 4 star , 1 ton air con since 2015. no issues so far.
one ton should be more than enough for the room of that size. if the price difference between 1.5 ton and 1ton is not much they go for 1.5ton
