CPU/Mobo Ddr2 2gb 667 dual channel vs ddr2 2gb 800 single channel

Of the above which one is faster ?. I have 3800+, and m2npvvm . System is used for office applications, web browsing,etc.,

i have a pair of 1gb 667 module. Thinking to sell it off and buy a 2gb 800 module. Is it worth doing so or to retain the pair of 667 module.

In simple terms , 667 in dual channel mode - or 800 in single channel mode. Which one will be faster ( only for office apps and browsing )

plz reply.....
 
Both same yaar, go for which comes out to be cheaper.

Probably 800 would be better bcoz it would be occupying single slot, so there might be a slot for upgrade to 4GB just in case...:)
 
Dual channel is required only when heavy bandwidth is required, which is not the case with office apps. So theoretically single channel DDR2-800 is better. But you'd be hard pressed to spot actual performance improvements by shifting to DDR2-800 especially with such apps, so I'd suggest leaving things as they are.
 
guys plz enlighten me to come to a conclusion.

i have 2x1gb 667 as i said which m using for browsing, office apps, etc.
100% office PC and no gaming. In this case is it a good idea to sell one of my 1gb ram ?

My question is will a 1gb ddr2 667 suffice for windows vista /seven . I will be using windows xp sp3 only as for now. But m unable predict the future. In case , very sooner or after somtime if most of the softwares are going to support only vista/seven will the 1gb ddr2 667 suffice at that time ?

Again m saying i will be using this pc for little browsing, office apps, only. I have a network printer too. plz tell me whehther 1gb is suffiient or 2gb is required in future...

now my question is it a good idea to sell my 1gb ddr2 667 memory ?

1 gb mimimum required for vista and above.
2gb makes the computer boot faster, load apps faster..........I suggest stick with 2gb single or dual channel.......perfomace differnce between single channel and dual channel is 2-3% max:hap2:

For the purpose you are going to use your PC it hardly matters. But for Vista i dont see you will have any issues with 1GB

Thumb rule is if you can afford go for more RAM as it gives a good amount of performance boost for Vista.

Regarding 667Mhz or 800Mhz, the latency for 667Mhz would be less so your apps would open much faster and your OS would boot much faster with 667Mhz. But again stick to the latest tech which in your case is 800Mhz.
And if your motherboard supports dual channel then 2x1GB is the best bet.
