I have a Asus P5G41C-M LX motherboard with 1GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz RAM. This board supports DDR3 so I'm thinking of upgrading to 4GB DDR3 RAM. Now the caveat: According to the manual the speed of the RAM has to match the FSB of the processor. I've got an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 with an FSB of 1066, so I (would) need to get 1066Mhz DDR3. However the manual does mention support for DDR3 1333(OC), so I'm sort of confused.

My question is can I get 1333Mhz RAM and use it safely? or do I need to get 1066Mhz RAM (don't know if that's even available)
Thanks

Hey, I got the same mobo and q6600 processor which is 1066 FSB and ram is 1333mhz corsair value. The ram auto matically underclocks and runs at 1066 mhz. So you should be safe. :)

You can use 1333 mhz no problem. To run at 1333 mhz you may need to adjust a mem multiplier setting otherwise it should run at 1066. But I think you can run the ram at 1333 also no problem.

Hi,

I've tried Corsair Value Select RAM CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 and the PC doesn't boot. The CPU and fans are running but there is no display. Please provide some advice; do I need to do any additional configuration?

Thanks
