:) Kingston has released it's ddr3 mem in India...

"The ultra low-latency HyperX is shipping in 1GB modules and 2GB memory kits. The 1GB 1375MHz DDR3 Ultra Low-Latency HyperX DIMM is available for Rs 23,500. Whereas the 2GB 1375MHz DDR3 Ultra Low-Latency HyperX DIMM -- Kit of 2, is available for Rs 47,000."

I wonder when shall we see some on the forum?

HA! Wonder who's going to be buying at such an insane rate.

Just give it some time to mature, then the prices will drop like anything ;)

I am sure there would be some fools to buy these rams even at these prices but another thing i am mostly sure of is that no 1 from our forum would be among that group.

^^ pcstore : wats the defination of normal ? :)......it will still be preety costly.......Q1 08 it should lower for a end user to afford the same.....

By Dec, 2GB DDR3 kits will be more affordable... and the kits we'll get here will not be great either. At present, 2GB performance memory kits will set you back by $800-1000 if you care about getting the best. That price will drop by 50-60% in the next 6 months, maybe more.

Normal means .. affordable by high end people .. in todays market there are many people still looks for pentium 4 .. these are not for them. ( at this moment at least).

^^ So if u say "HIGH END PEOPLE" ....then the people buying DDR2 mem currently are "high end people" ?
In that view the success of a product is when it 'sells' and 'sells' good to the common people and not jus to the sheer % of the high end users.....

^^Now now boys no fighting....

It was a small joke :p DDR2 memory is competitive and will be so till atleast next year quarter 2....

Till then DDR3 will be insanely priced...

but does ddr3 offer really big advantage against ddr 2??

After a while when the prices become more affordable and the frequencies and latencies improve.

Right now there is no point in jumping in for DDR3 at such high prices. Even DDR2 did not get common acceptance till a year after its launched. I guess we will see DDR3 getting common acceptance after 6~12 months.

Of course Tech enthusiasts will start getting these as soon as they get them under the 25k mark. But going by the trend, 4 GB is becoming the norm for Techies and soon 8 GB would be the way to go. So the DDR3 would have to become affordable enough to allow a Techie with deep pockets to atleast go for 4 GB.
