I still don't get how ICCWorld's almost double US pricing still sounds good to many people...

Nothing personal against them, in fact i appreciate them for the facility in the first place, but it's too expensive. If you really want something from the US then ask someone coming to get it for you

Not everyone has this option. Even if someone is coming, he may be coming after several weeks, which in many cases is not acceptable.
 
For your information, you can buy this directly for amazon for $94.34 ($22.37 is import fees deposit) which rs.4281. I am sure headphones are charged only 10% duties, and amazon says they will refund the extra cash if actual import fees turn out lesser, but don't take my word for it. Also they do not charge extra, if it takes more money for import duties. I have never actually shipped directly but if in fact import taxes is just 10% and amazon does refund the extra money, the cost of this would be $59+6+13(shipping charges)= $78 ~ rs.3500 which is rs.800 cheaper than iccworld. In other words iccworld might be making a lot of cash for each purchase. The only way to really find out is for one of us to be the guinea pig and actually buy this thing directly. At the worst, you will end up spending rs.4281 for it! Considering that this is rs.19 lesser than the iccworld quote, there is nothing to lose. Also note that you can mark an item as a gift which means there is a small chance that there will be no import taxes!
 
^^ i didn't know this was possible. almost every electronic item i've checked on amazon said it could not be shipped to india.

Shipping & Handling: $12.98

Total Before Tax: $71.97

Import Fees Deposit $22.37

Order Total: $94.34

So it went from 60 bucks with free shipping to US addresses, to $95. hmm...

p.s. anyone know when amazon started shipping options to india ?

It might turn out to be lower because I seriously do not think the government of India is going to charge $22 import charges for a $60 item. Ithink the duties for headphones is just 10% but I could be wrong. Amazon refund the extra amount. Just mark your item as a gift and there is a small chance that you do not have to pay any import duties!

Edit: Just check this http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cst-0910/cst-main.htm . This page list import taxes for everything paper to nuclear reactors!. Chapter 85 is the one relevant to us and headphones are charged 10%. Does anyone know what other charges our beloved government asks of us when importing stuff?
 
You guys are all going on and on about pricing, but haven't any of you considered the quality of these earphones? Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of these IEMs?

In case he is not satisfied with these turbine I'll sell 1 of them...

Edit: Just check this Customs Tariff 2009-10 - CBEC . This page list import taxes for everything paper to nuclear reactors!. Chapter 85 is the one relevant to us and headphones are charged 10%. Does anyone know what other charges our beloved government asks of us when importing stuff?

Chapter 85 and 84 (which includes most things electronics ) only mentions the basic customs duty.

On top of that you have additional customs duty of around 7.5% (or is it 10, i will need to doublecheck but its one of these two ). Then there is CVD of 4% and cess over that, then there is octroi and other local taxes added to all these taxes. If govt of India charges full duty as per the law, you will get murdered ordering something like this :P
