Well, there are people on TE who will give you stuff and not even ask you for payment till you are
satisfied with the product (or you are convinced it meets your requirements), forget finding some fault with it.
And then money transfer/EFT or any other means is not mandatory. :cool2:
You could have discussed it with the seller/buyer and opted for DD/Cheque.
Out-station Cheques, esp from North India, take weeks or more than a month at times, to clear as banks here look at it with suspicion.
So it's upto the buyer to wait for it to clear as shipping is subject to receipt of payment.
To make it clearer, i will avoid using the word 'trust'
I guess most first time trades between 2 people are via EFT as they don't exactly trust maybe but don't actually expect getting conned and find it fast and easy.
And neither there is any guarantee that someone who has had a couple of good trades as a buyer or seller won't con anyone.
But having dealt with one person earlier does develop more
faith in that person.
My first deal on TE was when one guru sold me something after another guru went ahead and paid him on my behalf.
EFT to seller wasn't an option.
Both of them hadn't met me till that date or till way later.
I got the stuff shipped to me and the local bank goofed up on the eft to the obliging member who was only doing me a favour by paying on my behalf as he was meeting the seller from the other city.
I had paid a frnd to xfer the money but it hadn't showed up in the member's account who had nothing to do with the deal but still went ahead and paid on behalf of a nobody.
Maybe the fact that i had briefly met some members other than them at one time might have helped but still they had not even interacted with me properly before that day.
My first deal as a seller was with a very nice and genuine guy but i was so worried throughout the deal and that poor chap wanted it shipped on the basis of proof of DD/cheque but i couldn't help him.
His cheque took more than a month to clear and only after that did i ship him the stuff, delaying his new rig and maybe causing him inconvenience that i cannot make up for now no matter what.
But i had to be careful, thanks to constant guidance from seniors.
And i did pester them too often on the matter and checked up with them everytime on how and what to respond. :ashamed:
Now i don't take chances with newbies at all unless i am selling and i get the payment in full.
Buyers are welcome to meet me at my place and that also reveals a lil more about that person than a simple telephonic conversation.
As a buyer, i entertain offers only if somewhat known by other reputed members who are here for not only market and/or if possible to meet them in person or pick up via some friend and/or if they are those who attend meets, etc.

I also make it a point to get the full contact info if possible and a genuine person won't mind usually and i haven't had anyone refuse me yet.
Touchwood- I have been very lucky when it comes to deals and making best friends for life, those who go beyond the regular to help me.
So TE is a very special place, esp for the latter.
But Murphy is one wicked man i tell you.
I hope and pray that you get a full refund or the card you bought in good working condition. :hap2:
