@ mods : make it mandatory for deals over Rs 5000 ( or any other amount determined by the mod team ) to be done only over ebay. Paying an extra 6% is nothing to ensure safety and peace of mind.
Only in cases where the buyer and seller already know eachother/have an impeccable history should this rule be relaxed.

It is not possible for everyone to do deals over ebay. Not everyone is acquainted with selling there. Moreover TE market section is just an addon so as to help members and not really the primary motive of the forum.

Whatever he is upto i hope there aren't anymore people he has scammed like this. He keeps telling lies every now n then.. why can't he just simply tell the truth and give us a final deadline by which we should get the refund.

1st he told me I'll get refund on friday evening, then he said it takes 12hrs to activate payee and will refund tomorrow [sat]. Sat passed, sunday passed, he said monday by 4pm i'll get... monday passed, till now nothing. Why all these lies??

What I've observed from any online transactions me or my friends have done is that IF someone is seriously ready to return money he will give you the final date/time by which it will be done. He will not waste anyone's time for it.

As far as TE is concerned I (along with many others) agree that market is not the primary motive and also understand that TE mods/mgmt is not responsible for any transactions/deal we do in the market section. Its clearly the risk that members take. However, there are somethings which the mods/mgmt can do to make the marketplace safer.

Even if its not primary motive, to do something to make it safer will only add to the value of this place. There are 100's of users which do deals here everyday and if something is done everyone will appreciate it.

I am a member here from bout 4 yrs and have seen TE go through a LOT of changes and improvements. And all those small tid-bits (features, contents, rules etc) have only made this place better. Adding new rules to make market safer is not something that mgmt cannot do, its possible but only if they wish to do. :)

Not again yaar, TE is just done with one similar scam recently, now this one.

This guy crossed limits, sold same thing to two guys and have not shipped to anyone of them., why does he need to collect money this way and why the heck he cant use his credit card??? Sure case of fraud.

I believe its probably time to change the way our market section works. Old, trusted user can deal normally anyways but for new guys(that includes me as well) it should change.

How about having 5-10 volunteers from all major cities, Now once a guy agreed and decided to pay, seller have to submit the hardware to his city representative(must be respectable member of TE), once the rep. confirm that product is in his possession, buyer can transfer money and than seller can ship the product with rep. Don't allow new members to sell otherwise.

Once they develop itrust score they'll be free to trade as usual.

I know its a crude thought but I believe something can be done on similar level, and now something *must* be done to ensure faith in TE community or else such activities by 1-2 guys will make questions on credibility of all others.

The seller should not allowed to close the thread. If anyone of the buyer would have posted in the thread that they have made the payment, this scam would have come to light much earlier. Since the seller closed the thread , I guess these guys werent ablet to post in the thread that they have made the payment.

Nicely said lethal, I agree with you completely. Just because its not the "primary motive" of this forum, doesn't mean that nothing should be done to make it better and it is lame excuse you gave.

I really believe that members having post count <100 (or atleast 50) or a stay of less than 6 months shouldn't be allowed to sell anything via TE. Most of the unfortunate incidents that have happened involve relatively newer members.

you know the last time that TE had a minimum post count to join the market , people spammed their way into it ...frauds and cheats will come into the market , it is upto the buyer to be forewarned and do deals only if he trusts the person , TE is just providing the platform for you to get your stuff , if you dont like it , you can always go to your local shops and get it from them ...
if you get cheated , it is your negligence and hardluck... dont blame TE or go about suggesting things which cannot be implemented

And now his number is "Switched off". That's too much.

Ok, now if anyone has his address, give me.

^^ come on man, think about the guy who have given 7000 Rs. If they can get their money back this way, its worth discussing it.

I dont want to sound like a broken record but have you noticed in this case or in the previous few cases that it involves members at least a year old and with more than 1 successful deal!

Everytime we have a deal gone bad, it seems to be the norm for ppl to jump out and raise the lets have a higher restriction on market for newbie rule.

Take this case for eg, the member in question here is about a year old in TE, has 3 successful deals with excellent feedback and near your 50 post count restriction. I dont understand how the above mentioned restriction would have prevented this incident at all!!

Ppl, lets have feedback or raise points to make this a better marketplace or prevent such incidents. But pls provide constructive points by understanding the situation or how it could have solved this incident.

Unfortunately NEFT does not work on our time, it works on RBI time. Also, RBI maybe holding multiple clearances in a day but its the bank's responsibility to forward the transaction to RBI under NEFT, the bank might be doing it only a couple of times a day. On top of that, Saturday transactions are anyway iffy as its a truncated workday for the banks. If he has indeed made the transaction on Saturday, you should be receiving the money today evening or latest by tomorrow afternoon. Sometimes, your own bank can take time in crediting the amount to your account.

Secondly, dude he told you he's gonna cancel the deal with kniwor and he's gonna sell the phone to you. Ideally, you should have conferred with kniwor and ascertained why he has indeed backed out of the deal (was it due to some hanky panky) and then proceeded. This is a forum marketplace and the only defense one has is to be aware and beware of every seller, whether old or new. There has been no clear distinction between who are fraudsters and who are genuine as there have been a fair share of frauds committed by long standing members of TE with high post counts in the past so its always best to pursue a buyer beware policy. Unfortunately, we see deals which are hard to resist and more often than not, throw caution to the wind. The frauds keep laying Venus Fly Traps for us and we keep flyin into them :S

Kniwor bhai new members pe trust mat kiya karo :(

I was a bit skeptical, but I checked all his threads before dealing. He has made sales in past, some of high priced items so I was not all that worried.

Anyway guys, it seems that "cursed" has recently picked up stuff from his place. So i'll get his address and have my friends pay him a visit. Check this thread.

ok buddy deal.. ill ask Kniwor to stop transfer...

hey here is my account details.

pls reply back to me if ur ok with it so that i can talk to Kniwor...

@lethal

Thanks, I have the same details. What city are you from?

Any Bangalore members willing to help? cursed said that he does not have the address and met him at some bus stop.

I am located in Hyderabad.

If there's anyone who has a known friend/relative who works in HDFC Bank, they can probably get the address of this guy from his account details? Don't know if its feasible... just a thought.

Who is blaming TE? And why cant things be implemented?
Nobody is blaming the TE and/or the staff.
Yeah, you have a point that the marketplace cannot be 100% secure, but still things can be improved, or atleast we should try to. And yeah, There is no duty as such of thinking about solutions and implementing things, if someone with authority thinks something needs to be done its his call.
