Recently my IDBI DC had been hacked and used by someone on Apple itunes Store for Rs. 60 :D (I think its the verification amount)

As soon as i got the SMS, i called the toll free number and got blocked my debit card with in30 seconds :D :D :D

The only international site where i used the card is Borderlinx, and generally used in Indian gateways including EBS and CCavenue

Do you have any such incident, Share your experience if you have any ?
 
One year before my hdfc card was tired in amazon.com around Rs.40000 but the card limit is only 10k and available balance is 5k only at the time.
Immediately called bank and blacked and got replacement card.
 
Yeah few month back one of my Kotak vcc is tried for 65000 lolz :P :P

the vcc limit is just 100 and is already being used my me :P
 
You seem pretty chipper for someone who just got hacked.

As for personal experiences, never had my credit card stolen. I usually use cash in smaller stores or virtual debit cards/Paypal where I can. I have had my credit card company call me a few times when I used my credit card in a new city. Just had to verify my purchases.
 
Nope never happened with me. Never used any vcc. Sometimes I use my cards on shady sites - still nothing happened. HSBC, my bank, has several layers of security to avoid it. They have a 24hr Fraud Monitoring system (ex. once I purchased Nexus on Amazon at 3:00 am, immediately got a call and mail from Hongkong asking if I have done the transaction).
Still I make a point to have a firewall installed (Comodo) and Nod 32 antivirus - always updated. The firewall blocks every app and connection it finds suspicious - helps me safely run even the ahem versions of software. Better safe than sorry as most of the generally available ahem versions are infected.

But the things is that, i think more than 80% cards are being hacked from Store database in which we put our CC/DC rather then trojans or spyware in our PC.

India stores generally uses 3rd party gateway and don't store cards in their DB, still when Microsoft India store was hacked loads of Indian CC's details got leaked.

However, you can check many OScommerce script being used by international stores, they generally store CC details which are then exploited by hackers
 
VCC is really a great option.

my generic strategy is this.
i use two accounts. one stores all the large amounts and its never used for any purchase or any POS purchase. i even avoid using its debit card at ATMs. through this account i can only sent money to my other account and no one is added to it.
the other account is used for all other purposes but keeping the balance at lowest possible level.
