Ok, I have planned on getting myself a decent gaming rig in April. Here's all the info (i hope) you will need to give your valuable suggestions. I do hope the price drop thing is going to come in April, but I thought it would be better to have a round of suggestions about the configuration before that.
My Budget - Rs 50,000/-. Please do not ask me to increase the budget, as it’s simply not possible.
My Requirements - Mostly Gaming, lots of HD movies and Music, a little bit of office work here and there. No encoding/CPU-intensive kind of work.
Will it be Over-clocked - Yes, but will be over-clocked when the system is put together the first time, I don't like messing around too much. I may do a bit of tinkering here and there so that I can learn a few things
That's all.
Will it be upgraded every now and then – No, It wont be upgraded every now and then. Except if something falls apart
My idea of the rig - I have a fair idea on what I want, please do suggest on what you think about it.
Processor – Intel Core 2 Duo E6750/E4500 – Rs 7,500/ Rs 4700
Motherboard – Abit/Asus (preferably the P35 chipset) – Rs 5,500/ (don’t know)
RAM – 4 GB Transcend DDR2@800MHZ – Rs 4,000/-
Graphics Card – 8800GT – Rs 12,000/-
HDD – 80GB + 320GB – Rs 5,000/-
Monitor – A Decent 19†WS (doesn’t have to be DELL) will be sufficient as I don’t intend to play any game at a very high resolution. – Rs 10,000
Cabinet + PSU – Don’t have much info on these, so will need your help J Rs 6,000/-
Keyboard + Mouse – Nothing fancy, a decent keyboard something like the Pleomax/something else from Logitech, and a simple Logitech mouse will be okay. Rs 1,500/-
I do not need speakers at the moment as I already have a pair of Klipsch Promedia 2.0 at home and they are just fine.
The configuration with the E6750 comes to Rs 51,500/- as of now, and the configuration with the E4500 comes to Rs 48,500/-
I know you guys will suggest a bigger HDD as i have mentioned the fact that I'm gonna watch lots of HD movies on it, so for that, I will be getting a portable 500GB HDD, possibly the WD one, after the rig is set up. I prefer to get stuff from here and there, hence the 500GB portable choice
Now, the price drop confusion. Certain websites like Fudzilla - Intel to cut its prices on April 20th , have announced there is going to be a price drop for Intel processors, mainly the 65nm ones, come this April 20th 2008.
I am not so interested in getting a bigger CPU, but I have a small doubt on this as well. What if I get a 2 GB system now, and invest the remaining 2ks leftover into the Processor? That way I can get an E8400 for Rs 8,500 along with the above configuration with 2GB ram, and save a thousand bucks as well? It then comes to Rs 50,500/- as of now. Hoping that the price drop in April affects the prices a little bit, I will be able to squeeze in a relatively okay-ish UPS as well in it
What do you guys think? Do let me know your valuable comments.
Thanks in advance guys
