So now that it has been withdrawn, is the govt. also anti-national?
Yup. Looks like this Govt doesn't care about citizens and we are going to be attacked by terrorists

or thats what people in this said have been saying

Not a new update. It has been this way for a while. All your messages *are* read by the US govt.
Yeah you're right,
Even BBM had to give in to the government pressure.
Somehow we have to compromise on individual privacy for the sake of national security ; Security & Privacy don't seem to go hand in hand.

Not necessary. They don't need to do that. The same way they don't need to pass this stupid act. Seriously. What a bunch of buffoons. It'll be lucky if we can survive through this century. Net monopoly (anti-net neutrality), draft national encryption policy. God help us all.

As per my understanding , the user was being made liable for keeping the old messages as proof of receipt or for some other absurd reason, it not just the service provider.

In any case, the more worrying part of the draft was that Govt being in position to specify what ciphers can be used for encryption. Imagine the cipher list being restricted to outdated and vulnerable ciphers because somebody decides for the govt that these are the only ones that they can break.
