Aftr a week i will be visiting delhi to catch flight from terminal d1. Now, there will be very less time i will get between unboarding my train and boarding the flight. I want the best route with maximum metro coverage from old delhi rlway station to d1 terminal. By taxi it will take hours with even no assurance that i won't get a traffic jam. Thats why i want maximum coverage by metro. Help..

Wouldn't this be better : Old Delhi i.e Chandni chowk station to New Delhi and from there, take the Airport Express ? Quite fast travel time as well.

I have heard it takes us to terminal 3 and i don't know how much far terminal d1 will be from there...

How much time do you have from getting down from the train to get to the airport?

Moreover, how can you be sure the train would arrive on time?

Metro runs from 6.30 AM to 11.00 PM every 15 min mostly. So you can plan accordingly. Also we cannot provide much help unless you share the Arrival time of your Train and Departure of your Flight.

just want to share this here, i took a flight from goa to delhi thinking that i'll pick the metro from the airport and even confirmed from my friend.. but to his and mine surprise, the spicejet flight dropped the passengers where there was no way to catch the metro..

the friend picked me up then..

didn't read that you'd be coming into the airport.. sorry for ot

My train arrival is 12.30 ~ 1PM, flight is 3.10PM

i would advise you to call the spicejet customer care and ask exactly from where the flight will be picking up the passengers, also ask if there would be any passage from the metro to that platform..

although i think that numerous people use metro so they must be providing the shuttle service from the main hub to wherever the flight will be boarded, so i don't think that catching a flight from delhi is gonna be an issue..

plus about your train, when the train arrives to delhi, just pick the next metro available, as they run every few minutes and reach the airport asap..

in any case, after confirming from spicejet, if there is no other option, just do what akash has suggested above, take the metro and reach dhaula kuan, from there, take an auto/taxi/cab to the 1d terminal. but as the gap between you train's arrival and flight is just 2hrs (max), i'd suggest you to call a radio cab and ask him to pick you up from dhaula kuan or if money ain't an issue, simply take a cab from the station to the airport, in normal conditions, it would not take more than 1hr (% 10 minutes).

Hey guys. i have to catch a flight from delhi airport for goa on 24th March. The flight timing is 9:30AM, so i will have to get to the airport by 8:30.

Now there are a few questions and i would appreciated any help that i can get.

1) the flight is Indigo and if i am correct they fly out from the 1D terminal. Till now i was thinking that the Airport metro would take me straight to that terminal. I will be boarding the metro from Mayur Vihar Ph-1 as early as possible,i.e. 6:30 AM

2)If even i follow the same route as suggested, how much time would it take for the taxi to drop me off from the Dhaula Kuan station to the terminal 1D.

3) Last time i used the Airport metro, i noticed that there was some option of checking in at the New Delhi metro station itself. Has anybody used that for checking in. Any more information regarding this would be helpful.

This thing seem to be quite comfortable :

New Delhi Metro station ---> Dhaula kuan (via airport line metro) ---> Terminal 1D by Taxi/cab/auto

What do you think guys?

BTW, are autos allowed?? and can i get a taxi easily from dhaula kuan?

i have heard that you can also get off at Delhi Aero City station if you want to go to the 1d terminal.

This schedule is going to be very tight mate.

You would have to run a lot. But this is the only option you have.

Advise you call the airport and ask for shuttle timings or take a cab.

But remember to run.

Cab is a no go, 20kms from old delhi in an hour is not possible.

yeah, this is a feasible plan but make sure you book a taxi beforehand to avoid any hassles or delay, i'm not confirmed about the autos, you'd have to ask someone else..

terminal 1d and t3 distance is around 8 kms.

The problem is from dhaula kuan you will have difficulty getting cab. autos run but their speed is slow to reach the airport. I dont know how you can book a radio cab at dhaula kuan as your arrival time at dhaula kuan will be uncertain depending on arrival of your train.

Since you have to reach by 2.10 pm at 1d and your train is by 1 pm, you just have 1 hr 15 min or so which is cutting it very close in my opinion.

first, you got to go from old delhi metro station to new delhi metro station, then change to airport line and then reach the next destination.

i suggest take the metro till t3 metro station, journey time is around 25 mins from new delhi metro station, go to the prepaid taxi counter of meru / easy cabs and take the cab till 1d. journey time will be 10 - 15 mins. plus you need time to buy tickets twice at metro station, reach old delhi metro station from railway platform and from airport metro station to prepaid cab counter.

you really need to figure this out properly.

cab from old delhi train station to 1d will take more than an hour which is not an option.

IMO, forget about taking a taxi/cab/auto either from Old Delhi or Dhaula Kuan as it would just lead to precious time wasted. The Airport Express is your best and fastest mode of transport. The govt. did not spend crores on it just to get a showpiece you know

. There are regular and FREE airport shuttle services between T3 & T1D. The distance between the 2 is covered in hardly 5 - 10 minutes because its a signal free ride. You total travel time should not be more than 40 - 45 minutes. I have heard of people getting off at the Aerocity station of the Delhi Metro for T1D but frankly don't have any concrete info. You can get more info on that from DMRC customer care. The numbers are on their website.

BTW, why did you keep everything so tight? Lets just now hope that your train does not end up running late.
