Those I think are the ports for the camera and Mic....
I contacted dell folks also...they too said its got only 2 outlets...
And if u look at the interface sections...Its exactly the same as the E22....

you mite wanna check this

Connector Type : Analog, DVI-D (Digital) with HDCP, HDMI

Dell SP2208WFP

exactly. do yall see it now. sheesh.

Sorry....My Bad...Apologies....

So guess now I know that E228WFP does not have the HDMi port whereas the SP22 has the HDMI port....Another advantage:hap2:

there are no 28 inch monitors.:D:D It's a 22 incher.

I don't know whether dell are still selling their 20 inch S-ips panel. i thought they were gonna replace it with a TN panel.
Anyway both the 22 inch panels you mentioned are TN panels. So even with better contrast ratio there won't be much diff.Save 6 k and get the E228WFP

Question....
Suppose i take the SP2208WFP which has HDMI input and get a mo-bo haveing a HDMI output.

Now, if I get a new GPU say 7950GT (which does not have HDMI) then if I connect the DVI of the monitor to the DVI out of the GPU....
Will there be a noticable difference in quality:huh:

errr, afaik i don't think any card support HDMI yet.
jetway mobo which has onboard display has hdmi out :)
Well....I am not talking bout Mobo's... thing is once I get a GPU...i will use the DVI out which is present in the GPU so the Mobo outlet becomes kinda useless...
So Question is if I buy a GPu will I lose out on the HD content?

afaik hdmi is the same as dvi d with sound. if you are connecting speakers to soundcard either interface will work . someone correct me if i am wrong

of course if has hdcp but if you play movies off your hdd i dont think it will be an issue

^ Bah, why the confusion, just use a DVI -> HDMI video cable, it won't deteriorate picture quality by even 1%.

[Rant] Since we are talking about HD here, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are moving forward from 8-bit and going to 12-bit video. Its called deep color, and needs hdmi 1.3 to work.
I don't know if there are any 12-bit panels amongst the lcd/plasmas. They only have 10-bit. Maybe 12-bit will come out soon.
Hence I can't help but feel cheated when the whole computer monitor industry is moving backwards and going back towards 6-bits :(

Of course, it's almost impossible to detect a difference between lossless music and high bitrate compressed music on most (affordable) systems. Is it the same with video? Is deep color just a marketing gimmick? I don't know.

i saw this galaxy 8600gt which had hdmi out, was priced 2k more than the regular model :S.

Seems like that to me, cause all of the newer displays are 10-bit panel equipped with HDMI 1.3, and are running HD content flawlessly!

But true, the 6-bit LCD's are a huge step backwards.

Our visual perception is way better than our auditory perception. You can see billions of colors in nature. Why be limited to just 16million on an LCD display then :P.

Anyway I've seen a normal 8bit panel vs an HDR 16bit panel(Brightside Technologies) side by side and the difference was enormous. Too bad that panel costs 50000 US$ right now :P.

Its funny that the computer industry is moving backwards towards TN which frankly is the lousiest technology amongst all LCD technologies. Its even funnier when the so called "experts" in this forum say that there's no difference between TN and other LCD tech. All I can do is laugh.

^ Chaos any idea when the 10-bit LCD's are finally gonna hit the market? You've been following the scene very closely, any updates?

Yes 6-bit LCD's are a huge step backwards but that’s only in “PC monitor†world. Only pc monitor manufacturers are going for 6 bit displays & their logic seems to sensible as native 8 bits have been repeatedly plagued with issues in “pc monitors†(consider dell 2407 S-PVA)...whereas TN’s are a lot cheaper & have fewer issues to settle and these days TN’s with(6+2) FRC have evolved too..but still TN’s with anything can’t match color accuracy of native 8 bit panels…..for color accuracy TN’s suck

Now considering Dell E228WFP & SP2208WFP
Currently I have two very good TN’s with me SAMSUNG 940BW & DELL E228WFP
Samsung 940bw is a RTA overdriven panel .940bw has got very little RTA errors so it’s perhaps one of the best TN’s with RTA around…
When I compare my 940bw with e228wfp I can very easily make it out that 940bw with RTA is lot better than E228WFP in responsiveness (just watch a cricket match & u would come to know)…..so same may be the case with DELL SP2208WFP & E228WFP , so better wait and watch for reviews for SP2208WFP..

Plenty of 10-bit LCDs available. Bravia X and D series are 10-bit, as well as some models in W and V series.

@ Chaos, where did you see brightside! :O That is gonna be one helluva display :D
