Hi,

Could the owners of the Dell Inspiron(TM) 1525 Laptop please share their feedback on the price and quality of this model.

I am planning to get one for everyday usage (surfing, reading and casual gaming) and would appreciate inputs from TE members.

TIA

IMO the Dell studio 15 is better than the Inspiron 1525..

studio15 even has a dedicated ATI card..cant recollect which one.:P

its nice if configured well dont buy from store better buy online so that u can make changes. the performace of store 1525 and online 1525 huge diff

well.. 1525 serves my needs more than anything else.. i feel studio is a waste of money..its worth if you go for looks and quality and of course a Gfx card.. (i dont intend to game on my 1525) and regarding the cheap plastic.. it depends on how you use it .. its been 5 months and my lappy has not got even one scratch.. :) i got the laptop from malaysia for 29.3k to be precise and the config is 3gb ram and a C2D 2ghz with 160GB hdd.. got a lot of accessories with it too :)
In other words, i am more than satisfied with it :)

Sure is better and has a dedicated 256mb ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 module..

Thanks for all the info folks. Really appreciate the inputs.

I was trying to customize the laptop at the DELL website as recommended but am a little confused by some of the options.

1) Among the WXGA and WXGA+ is the WXGA+ worht 6535/- more?

2) Is the 1 year limited warranty sufficient?

3) Is an external modem required for anything?

Would be great to know regarding these as I am quite new to the laptop technologies. :)

TIA

1. ask some one about the WXGA .. not sure.
2. again your call. It sure is helpful because if i were in your place and even if i might be really techie, i would never experiment troubleshooting with my own laptop.
3. you get a built-in modem, why get an external one ?

i'd suggest go for Studio 15 with 3gb ram and t8100 + ATI gfx card + 250gb HDD... all will be around 53k... why spend 53k on an Inspiron? :S

Just got my Studi0 15 last week... and its amazing..! would suggest you a Studio and no Inspiron.

....IMO, Inspiron will reach its EOL in few days.

AS suggested by most people here I tried out the customized Studio 15 laptop and got a price of 54K.
But when I then clicked to continue it gave me a final quote of ~64K with taxes.
This really put me off the whole thing. I can't understand why I need to put 10K more for nothing and am now thinking maybe I should buy from a retail store instead (I think it may be cheaper?).

Is this +10K for taxes justified? Is there any way we can get the laptop cheaper (i.e. around 55K all inclusive)?

I don't think it comes with an internal as they are asking if we need an external modem, Isn't it? Also isn't this only for dial up connections?

64k is too much :S

Can you please tel me wha config u selected? and where do you stay?

..i'll be able to guide you only then..

umm if you are talking about 1525.. yes it does have a modem inbuilt.. i ve actually used it lol .. they are just giving u an option if you want the modem as an external one instead having it inbuilt. . And, yes its for dial up connection and faxes.

Yeah but I don't think it is worth more than 55K over here (all inclusive).

then go and bargain with them :P

the shop may quote you something like 60k for a config costing 64k on the site. The taxes are obviously already included in the shop pricing.

Also, shop configs are usually pretty limited.

Try bargaining with dell :)

Even if I get the actual price reduced to around 50K say. I still have to pay around ~10K for taxes etc. right? OR can this also be reduced?

Taxes cannot be reduced :P

You can just get them to give you as much discounts as possible. Stop thinkin in terms of price + taxes :bleh:

Think as total =64k. Then bargain with them to reduce this as much as possible :)
