NEVER keep lappies for long hours on soft surfaces.

I recommend you keep a wooden writing board first on the couch then keep laptop on it.

"Hi, last night I unplugged my laptop from its charger, carried it downstairs, and placed it on the wood floor of my living room.

I heard a loud popping sound and the room immediately filled with smoke while the laptop hissed and sizzled. It died down, I pushed it with my foot, and it stared hissing again. There is a large scorch mark on my wooden floor.

:P

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Catches Fire – Dell Has No Explanation
mini9fire3.jpg

Just when we thought the days of exploding laptops was over,
, up pops an Inspiron Mini 9 from Dell catching fire. The netbook which was only a few weeks old caught fire while it was being used by a consumer and left a nasty burn mark on her hardwood floor.

The victim of the blazing netbook stated the following:

“Hi, last night I unplugged my laptop from its charger, carried it downstairs, and placed it on the wood floor of my living room.

I heard a loud popping sound and the room immediately filled with smoke while the laptop hissed and sizzled. It died down, I pushed it with my foot, and it stared hissing again. There is a large scorch mark on my floor.

It goes without saying, I am glad the laptop was not on my couch …or in an airplane.â€

I’m glad it didn’t happen on an airplane as well. Especially a flight that I might be on. To their credit Dell gave the victim a new computer upgraded to a better model for her trouble. Dell hasn’t as of yet explained why the unit caught fire.

At a conference in Japan, a Dell laptop suddenly exploded into flames, and lucky for its owner the fiery blast occurred while the PC was sitting on a table and not in his lap. An onlooker reported that the notebook continued to burn, producing several more explosions over the course of about five minutes.

The model of the offending Dell notebook wasn't mentioned, but since it was of the Windows persuasion, we can now boast that we are unbiased in our reports of fiery laptops, both Mac and PC. It's only a matter of time before something like this happens on an airplane. –

Re: DELL's fire play !! (for just fun only)

i used to work for dell before and they a very strong policy regarding this called safety capture. usually if there is any other harm caused by the product Dell is liable for it, i rember several people getting new hardware usually, in case of desktop the get a new tower along with components.

@op, if you can take time to copy paste something, then take time to mention the source too. Its netiquette.
