Laptops Dell or HP??

My friend is planning to buy a Laptop and has a budget of around Rs. 70,000/-.
I have shortlisted him two Models :
1. Dell Inspiron 6400 (after modification)
Config: Intel Core Duo T2400 (1.83 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB), 15.4" Wide Screen XGA TFT with True Life, 1GB (1GB*1) DDR SD RAM, 100 GB SATA HDD, Internal 8X DVD Writer, 128 MB ATi Mobility Radeon X1300 Hypermemory etc.

2. HP dv5118 / dv 5120 TX
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300 with Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology (1.66GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB), 1GB (1 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce® Go 7400 (up to 256MB system memory shared with >=512MB system memory), 15.4" colour WXGA BrightView, 100GB (5400 rpm), Dual Layer DVD±RW/±R.
HP Pavilion dv5118TX (EV899PA)

Which one out of the 2 you guys prefer why? About the GPU one is having ATi Mobility Radeon X1300 GPU and another with NVIDIA GeForce® Go 7400. Traditionally which one is supposed to have better Graphics Capability? He will most probably going to US for Higher Studies within a month, although I recommend him to buy it from there but he is insisting to get it from here. I also wanted to know which one is having better After Sales Service in US as welll as in India??

both will have good after sales service in the US. though ppl in the US prefer Dell. i would go for the dell mainly cuz of the scree which has "true life".. its awesum..

Id take the dell as well, but with one minor change. Get 2X512 MB sticks coz it'll run in dual channek mode. Or if he wants to upgrade to 2 GB later then stick with the 1 GB stick. Another thing would be under partition options uncheck whats selected and click no partitioning and the price reduces by 800 bucks( thanks to superczar for pointing this out ). Another thing if he games try to upgrade to X1400 if it isnt too much more.

if its usa,then dell is the best option,but i am usin the compaq v2000 and apart from the overheatin probs the lapy is gr8 and is vey light,the gra is not a prob,ask him to get a ddr2 sdram of 2gb its cool and the hp lapys run amazin
