In my post above, Please note tht im planning to buy any of the two laptps from India and then going to Australia for studies.

well in tat case find out wheter dell has on site warranty in australia aswell or wat.. should prob be able to find out from a dell sales rep.. an yeah even i prefer dell anyday over hp cause 1. onsite warranty 2. ability to customize 3. (most imp) normally much better vfm.. :hap2:

thanks for ur quick reply rahulimg and amityrock!
well yea ill chek wit dell sales rep if they offer on site warranty in aus...
and yea amity ure right in tht dell offers more vfm ... but i hv to wait for 3-4 weeks for dell..at least thts wot they said when i requested for more info on a Dell inspiron 1420 quotation...

anyone have any idea about the 0% tax exemption for Dell laptops ?
its given as an option on the website while buying one, and it saves about 2k...does it mean w/o bill or sometn?????

dude.. if u want the laptop quicker tell them u need it absolutely urgently for a conference or somethin in the next week or 2.. but it almost always takes them about 15 days.. try an make them commit to a earlier date an if they delay then ask for compensation .. (a guy here at te did this an he scored a years warranty extension for free)

And the tax exemption wont be witout bill.. the exemption isonly for specificl people i think (probably like army or somethin ).. everythin is in white an with bill.. talk 2 dell rep politely an theyl wave off a massive chunk of ur tax burden anyways..

okk... thx for ur help man....ill talk to d dell guys....
but 3-4weeks is really irritating to say the least.... ill start pulling my hair till tht time i think....

^^^ hehe.. well u cant have ur cake an eat it too huh.. ;) i know bout it, id asked my sis to get me a dell from us an i had to wait 2 months since after i placed the order for me to actually get it.. but in the end it was all worth it.. :)
