Dell has quietly added a pair of LCDs to its lineup that get the mainstream using color-accurate displays. The 21.5-inch U2211H and 23-inch U2311H both output at 1080p using higher-quality IPS (in-plane switching) panels. Their performance isn't yet public but should provide more color and wider viewing angles than same-size LCDs with TN or PVA panels.

Both connect strictly to digital sources with either DisplayPort or DVI. They produce just a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio but can rotate, tilt and change height to get an ideal angle. A four-port USB hub is built into either display.

The new screens aren't quickly listed on Dell's pages, but orders are open today and show only small price differences between the two: the U2211H costs $280 where the U2311H lifts the price to $300. [both via LogicBuy]

yeah as always its out in US only...couldnt find it in indian site...

Interesting Panels...I wish the 23-incher was 1920x1200

21.5 inch one doesn't look very attractive over the 23-incher in terms of pricing. Any info on Indian pricing and availability ?

Both the panels have come on sale officially and the 23incher is for 13k odd in the Hot delas section.

One of the best displays which easily offers the best VFM! :)

IPS panels were never this cheap years back.

I was wondering the same thing. There's GOT to be something to it. Anyway, be as it may, the specs say 8ms grey-to-grey response time. What does this translate into WRT gaming? The hot deals deal looks juicy, but I'm waiting for a review! Preliminary google didn't reveal how adequate 8ms is - All i managed to unearth were some ages old posts about monitors "boasting" 8ms "ultra-fast" response..

^For a human eye, it's impossible to differentiate the differences between the response time on a IPS panel vis-a-vis a TN panel which has say 2ms response time.

Look at the AT results. IPS panels have zero gaming lag, my 3008WFP has the same 8ms GTG response time and there's no ghosting that I can see, though no video card can push out any new game at anything above 40FPS on this display.

thank you. What if we play the games at lower res/ detail settings? My movies & hd rips watching to gaming ratio is 70/30 and this IPS panel is tantalisingly (just above) close to my budget. If it is worth it, then buygamingstuff will have one more customer.
