First of all, I would have bought the Dell SP2208WFP if I had the cash.

My budget is ard 10k and I am oscillating between Dell SE 198WFP & Viewsonic VA2226. I will be using it for watching movies, games (RTS & Sports) and reading a lot of text so I need a monitor that would cause least strain while reading text. After-sales service of the viewsonic is a negative, r there any other negatives abt this particular model?

I'll buy the 19" dell if it is a far superior monitor for movies, gaming and reading but will go for the 22" viewsonic if there is not much difference. Plz advice.

A friend is using the VA226w, its pretty good- no dead pixels, very nice for games and movies. A lot of people would recommend the 19" DELL, but i would rather buy the 22" Viewsonic, its got DVI input as well. Check it out at your dealer and take a call.

So, the viewsonic VA2226 picture quality is as good as the dell SE 198WFP? Wat's the quality of viewsonic monitor like? Do they often get dead pixels? Wat's their policy regarding dead pixels?

can also consider the LG L226WQT 22" lcd.

i just got one today as a temp replacement for my 24" lcd which is sent in for repair. nice screen i must say. good build quality, zero dead pix.

price is 12,999 at croma.

Get yourself a AOC 917W its a brilliant monitor one of my friends is using it and the colour production is brilliant it even comes with DVI and VGS input. And the LCD has a brilliant black finish which gives it a sleek and stylish look.

I am still confused. I need someone who have used/seen both monitors to tell me whether the viewsonic is as good as the dell monitor in terms of picture quality. Anyone?

Also, what is the failure rate of viewsonic lcd monitors? R they abt. the same as those from other brands like dell, lg etc?

i still would want a larger panel , all TN more or less now look the same unless the GLOSS is added.

I bought the viewsonic VA2226w today and I love it :hap2: . Played Fifa07 and it looked superb at full graphics and at the highest resolution.

Thanks to all those to help me decide on this monitor  . Only problem is, I'll now have to upgrade my graphics card from my current 8600GT.

Btw, anyone knows of any good site where I can download good HD video clips?

congrats on the new monitor! :) , if you are familiar with torrents, you can find a whole bunch of high definition videos to download from the usual sites.

how much damage :)

I got it for Rs 12,250/-.

This monitor seems to have a very limited viewing angle. If I view it from even 1 foot to the right or left, there is a noticeable discoloration. Even worse for vertical viewing. Viewing distance is ard 2.5 feet. Is this normal for all 22' lcds. My friends' 17" & 19" lcds do not seem to have this problem.

Also, my desktop resolution is currently 1680 x 1050. What will happen if I attach my old 17" crt monitor without changing the resolution?
