Hi,
Need some help as i'm not able to decide as to which one of these two to go for.
The Dell USA site (Dell 22" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor ) says, the ultrasharp ones carry a premium panel warranty, which would mean a replacement for even a single dead pixel.
How is it with the SP2208WFP?

I guess, earlier the price of the ultrasharp model used to be more than that of the SP and E models. This was a little less confusing, ultrasharp panel costs more than the other ones, so it has got to be better of the lot :)
But now it goes for about 1K lesser than the SP model.
Which one of these is better, the actual display-wise ? (just the screen, without bothering about hdmi, cam, mic ...)

The SP model's specs say 2000:1 'dynamic' contrast ratio which people seem to say needn't be given a lot of weightage over the normal 1000:1 contrast ratio of the US one. But the page for the US model says 1000:1 dynamic ratio (typical) in the overview :S

The US one looks, to me, really neat compared to the silvery SP model

The v shaped stand + the black bezel score for me over the oval base and the silver-coloured bezel of the SP. Matte scores over the glossy display too :)
My 3 year old laptop's screen when it was bought seemed to be super bright but looking at the newer glossy displays it seems to be just too dark :( So I can probably live with a glossy display though matte still is a preference

But the SP model does seem to have a faster response time at 2ms compared to the other models. This display, atleast for sometime, is going to be used for watching tv :), so lesser response times would be good. It's primarily going to be used for having a full screen vim window open for programming, text-editing :) with occassional gaming or watching of movies.

i suspect, had the SP model been with a black bezel (guess S in SP means Silver though :P ) i would without any doubt go for it :ohyeah:

Excuse the long post and please shoot in your suggestions :)

any DELL lcd can be replaced even without a defect !
hence dun worry !

SP is good !

that sounds nice :)

just want to re-confirm if there's anything really ultrasharp-ish or any other thing else display wise, about the ultrasharp model, despite both of them being TN panels!

NOT REALLY...

just that with the Ultrasharps ,they offer a "premium panel warranty" ;)

And of course extra connectivity & panel adjustment options..

I have the Sp and am someone whoz really obsessed with black. Once you look at the SP watch a movie etc you prolly wont think of the silver colour. I had the Viewsonic Vg1930wm with the height adjustable stand etc neevr used it ever, i think potrait pojition setting of the US is totally useless in real world 24 x 7 usage. Get the SP hands down.

I have a SP2208WFP , and it is a great monitor.Of course its a TN panel , but everything like movies , games , reading texts is all good for me.

Just have to set the settings right , cause default settings are not good.

After reading hundreds of reviews , I finally got this monitor in Jun 08, and I am glad that I did.

I think these two are pretty close and most of the factors might be just personal preferences. I didnt like the glossy screen and thought the height adjustment would be better for me and went with US. Have been very happy with the displays and Dell's customer support.

I think SP might be a better option for gaming and multimedia use. I sit in front of these 15+ hours a day with not much of the entertainment part, so US seems to be better for me.

1 question for the dell users..in some of the pics i saw ..samsung and lg 22inchers have "BIGGER size" and dell screen size looks smaller..is this true or not..as real life view may differ frm the pics u watch on net

Apprantly it looks like when u seepics on the nest, its same 22" size. Dell LCds dont have inbilt speakers etc hence they looks smaller but actual screen size is 22".
