I got this monitor yesterday from a local shop at Kolkata for (15K + 4% VAT) = Rs.15600/- with 3-year warranty.

Stunning display in my opinion! Got no complaints so far! Love some of its features. Haven't tested the webcam though!

Try visiting some local stores and ask them if they can have the monitor brought from their dealers. Ask them the price too. Should be Rs.15000+VAT. That's how I got it (in Kolkata though!)

Good luck!

Thx firefox..

Just got a link from a dell dealer...
He says Rs 16,000/- all incl, will be available in 10 days...
trying to negotiate for ~15,500/-..

Will update soon...

Thx

Any updates, mate? Ideally you should get it for 15K with 3 year warranty. Or else he is overcharging.

If that includes taxes, then the price is fine. I paid Rs.15600 in all.

Hmm, I dont think the higher resolution is worth it on a 23". Its the same TN panel, with the only advantage being is a 360" swivel option. Hmm yeah, and a webcam for anyone who uses it, its a nice addition.

@thiru: No probs so far at all. The only minor thing is that the vertical viewing angle is poor if you look from below. But the superb adjustments make up for it as it can be titled downwards upto 5 degrees.

@aces: The resolution is great to have when you want to have two windows open side by side. Drag and drop becomes so easy as you get to choose exactly where it does. that's the main reason I bought it. Plus the 16:9 ratio is good if you like to watch movies.

The colors are really great! (Though my opinion on colors shouldn't be taken as some final verdict as this is the only 23-24" LCD monitor I have laid eyes on, coz my city doesn't have any on display and I don't know anyone who uses such a huge monitor). But still, I am not blind and can testify that they should be fine even for some pro photographer.

I can assure you that you shouldn't really think of any chances of blurring or ghosting. And you will surely love the adjustability, the two USB ports on the left side and the webcam is useful if you haven't got any other video capture device.

Also the onscreen menu is great! You will love it. ;) And here's a fun fact (coz you won't be needing it often :P ): the monitor can be titled upwards to face the ceiling!

(I played a prank on my friends saying that it was a multi-touch display! :) )

And I like the fact that it's got a HDMI option (I use the DVI though, coz I read that HDMI hardly makes any difference when compared to DVI except the additional audio streams; but my monitor has no speakers, so that's pretty useless).

Btw, anyone who tells you that this high a resolution on a 23" doesn't look good or makes you squint your eyes to read text... is a LIAR! I have had no problems at all at the default DPI and resolution on both Vista and Win7.

you just can't compare a 6 bit TN panel with an 8 bit one.

if screen real estate is of priority, get the S2409W. Last I heard, it was retailing for 12.5kish through predatorvj .

There is also the Benq G2412HD selling for around 11k something locally.

even then, I'll recommend a 2209WA over any TN. And hurry up on that since Dell is going to replace these with more TNs and the H-IPS U2410 which will cost thrice as much.

I am from Kolkata , and want to buy Dell SP2309W for my rig , can someone help me out , how can I get it in Kolkata ?

I need it urgently as my old 19" CRT is dying ..

I know it is available all over India (approx 15,000) , but I could not found it in Kolkata , But from TE I know that FireFox4 from Kolkata got it in August 2009 , but he did not provide the dealer information.I have already PM'ed him but it seems that he is offline for sometimes now.

So I am requesting to all , if anyone of you could please provide me the contact information of Dealer from Kolkata from whom I can get this.

Thanks and Rgds
