Hey,

Just between these two laptops, which one is better? I will most probably be buying one of these two laptops in the USA in 2 weeks. So bring in the opinion guys...

Which one is better overall?

Thanks
Crazysah

Dell is better in all sense. Top service & their Complete Cover Warranty scheme.

Heard HP is not giving International Warranty if you plan to bring to India.

First, tell us about your usage conditions and particular requirements if any. Also, post the specs which you have decided for the above laptops as these can be configured according to your needs and budget:)

Budget is around $1500. I will primarily using it for college work, photo editing and a little bit of gaming with games like Civ 5, AOE, NFS, Fifa and CS/Portal. Also watching a lot of videos.

Now can you recommend one?

Do you want a 14 inch laptop or a 15 incher? It should be (envy14 vs studio 14) or (envy15 vs studio 15).However, I think in both the cases Envy series is much better than studio series as you get the awesome metal finished body:cool2: and a much much better ATi 5830  graphics card in Envy 15.I will suggest you to go with Envy 15 and customize its base configuration by getting i5-540 cpu and (160gb ssd+250gb 5400rpm) hard drive:)

Envy 15 is the best option with i5-540+Ati 5830+(160gb ssd+250 gb hdd).

Q:Envy 14 or studio 15?

Ans: Envy 14

I don't really care about the screen size. Just whichever one is better. Envy 14 or Studio 15.
i think your perception matters most as it will be you who will be using the laptop.

do have a look at the screen size first & decide what you want.

14" laptop are portable & light weight but you are not going to enjoy any movie on it or any game because of the screen size.

15" size is the most preferred size as it's a balance between weight and performance.

IMO what i've noticed is that Dell Studio feels a bit plasticy while HP feels a bit solid.

but Dell offers International Warranty & has better After Sales Support too.

if i were you i would definitely go for Dell. but as far as screen size is concerned it's upto you.

Amen for that. Dell has an unmatched customer support. You can as well have the warranty transferred from the US to India.

The Complete Cover scheme is an added bonus.

I don't know about HP after sales support in India. But machine wise, STUDIO 15 is no match for ENVY 14.

ENVY 14 is actually is a 14.5" lappy. The build quality is one of the best in class as well as the specs. Besides, the 8 cell battery with switchable graphics gives it more advantages.

Read some of the reviews about ENVY 14 as well as STUDIO 15 and have a look in the nbr threads.

Let me clarify the complete cover is region specific and doesnt get transferred. Only the Warranty does. :)

Source: Wanted to buy 5 year extended warranty and have enquired with Dell support in UK as well as India.

On Topic: Dell FTW....

Where have I mentioned that the Complete Cover can be transferred? :bleh:

All I said, was CC makes it very easy for the customer. AFAIK the CC can be purchased from here if the laptop is under warranty and once it has been transferred to India. :)
