Laptops Dell Studio 15 Question

Hey,

I have one question on the Dell Studio 15;

My dad is planning on buying it. Should we get the Studio 15 with the;

1. Intel® CoreTM i7-720QM Mobile Processor
2. Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor

what is the purpose. for multimedia intensive tasks like AV editing, core i7 would be better. For normal use, core2duo is more than enough.
 
Well he wants it for lots of programming. Plus he wants the laptop to last him at least 3 years. So...which option is better?
 
get one with core2duo and buy 3yr warranty pack that will protect the laptop for 3yrs from hardware failure. make sure that h/w failure is covered well under that 3yr warranty as there are different levels of warranty that you can purchase.
 
What is the price difference between c2d and i7 ?

If it >= 20K better to buy C2D now, later sell and buy i7, bcoz Acer C2d is in the range 33k
 
i7 much faster, hotter, and not so energy efficient, definitely not recommended for mobility and it is a desktop replacement laptop...

Core 2 --> Comparatively slower, but more cooler, better battery backup and so on...

so decide the one you want more...

Its between Power and Mobility...!!!!

Difference between Config with P8700 and i7 is 5k only...
