i have planned to get the dell ultrasharp u2311h:ohyeah:... my purpose is gaming and movies....so guys please share your opinions and also suggest if there are better options in 23"moniors

Why don't you get the Ultrasharp U2711 instead? The dual GTX580 setup is a waste if you are investing in a lcd that churns out 1080p res. The 2560 x 1440 res. of the U2711 should complement the dual gpu setup well.

Your friend has one. Ask him to source one for you. He works for Dell anyway. I am sure he can get a good bargain.

Why exactly are you running a GTX580 SLI setup if you only game at 1080p?

Same reason he wanted to upgrade from a Core i7-920 @ 4Ghz to a 980X. But to each his own ;)

^ 90% increase in price is not justified.

if you want more than 23" go directly to 27" as others are suggesting , cause it definitely is a waste, if your SLI setup is treated with just a 1080p monitor.:(

That Future Proof thinking (more than an year) is insane IMO, cause Money NOW is more important.

If you are still hell bent on 23inch sell one of your 580s. ( hope you get my point)

is the u2410 a 16:10 aspect???
yes U2410 is 16:10.The main difference between them is U2311H, being a S-IPS where as U2410, a H-IPS and what I have read is that colour reproduction of U2410 is much better than U2311H, but can't comment on whether a 10k more is justified or not.

Other differences include a HDMI connector,PIP,better response time, horizontal and vertical mounting in U2410.
also I am little bit biased towards 16:10 :P

GPUs depreciate the fastest and are the most easy to replace later. 18 months ago, GTX295 was $500 card, today $220~ card's performance is more or less equal. This thread brings back memories of Dell 2209WA (1680x1050) IPS panel, everyone suggested its very unbalanced combo. Even today GTX 295 would eat almost anything at 1680x1050 for breakfast and churns out respectable fps @ 1080p. Don't compromise on the monitor. You didnt scrounged on the motherboard and CPU (Core i5 CPU does pretty much anything you desire from Gamer's perspective).
