All-in-one motherboards are always ordinary - Cheaper, limited expandability and average performance. At the beginning of February DFI launched RS482 Infinity, which is ATI RS482+SB450 chipset for the AMD S939 platform..

Features at glance :
  • support for AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU(Socket 939)
  • ATI Radeon Xpress 200 RS482 Chipset
  • Integrated ATI Radeon X300 GPU
  • FSB 2000MTps & Dual-Channels DDR400 memory
  • TV-out(HDTV supports)/ VGA/ DVI-D output device
  • Gigabit PCI LAN & 4 x SATA
  • 8 channel High definition Audio
  • 8 x USB2.0 ports
Conclusive thoughts :
After spending 3300NTD ($110/ €89) and playing around with this small DFI board these are my thoughts:
PRO
  • Very good board layout
  • Great expandability options for such a small board ( 4*SATA, 2*PCI, 1*PCI-E 16X)
  • Wonderful multimedia features. 8 channel audio with S/PDIF. With extra ATI VGA card can control 4 monitors
  • BIOS OC tuning features are rich. The board can reach 300 HTT with memory running sync at 1T. The OC ability is close to top level OC motherboards.
  • Built-in X300 display core. This is the top built-in VGA in K8 platform (X300SE market price is over 1500NTD). Offers acceptable performance for the casual gamer.
CON
  • no SATA II support
Looking at the price of the board and its features it is hard not to recommend it the hardware enthusiast out there!

Nice!!! If only Itdepot start importing this here, we can stop recommending MSI RS 482 and A8N-VM CSM to all the people who ask fir budget configs with onboard graphics.

@ Dipdude, VR had reviewed it about 2 weeks ago... nevermind many of us missed... its a good mobo for sure. VFM getting a new contender?

Yup, harshal we all missed it ;) anyways looks a worthy buy :)

Conclusion :

We found the DFI RS482 ideal for the no-frills seeker who hungers for an affordable and simple all-in-one solution. It functions very well as a Home Theatre PC, provides more than sufficient power as a workstation, and provides just enough graphical horse-power for decent gaming performance. As said before, it is well suited to be housed in a Mini ATX Case and placed just beside your TV, serving as a gaming console.

More than just this however, DFI has once again struck the overclockers' bell in our hearts with this RS482 board. From the abundant BIOS Options available, to the high CPU, HTT and integrated GPU Clock Speed it is able to scale up to, this board is in no way deficeit to any of the normal ATX boards out there. In many ways, it even surpasses some of these boards. For USD$125 (SGD$209) a pop, no one on the look-out for a cheap and fast all-in-one IGP PC should ignore this board.

Overall Rating : 90 VRMarks!
