Airtel is playing wierd in punjab.
Awesome VFM plans for ludhiana but they dont exist for rest of punjab :@
Punjab: Rs. 599 p.m. -> 256kbps UL
Ludhiana Only: Rs. 499 p.m. -> 1Mbps till 5GB FUP, then 256kbps UL + Rs.200 Airtel-Airtel call value free.

Thx for the pointer, thought all of Punjab would be under the same 'subsidised' rate.

Its little bit higher for the same in the south :(

Actually,for somebody who has been using the mtnl 1Mbps UL for quite sometime now,I can say that these FUPs have been very sensibly placed.

How much do you think you'll actually download?

You'll be very enthusiastic for the first couple of months and then physical limits will force you to restrict downloads to less than 50Gb a month even if you want to download.

At just 12 hours a day,you can download 150Gb on a 1Mbps line,300Gb on a 2Mbps one,you'll have to but a 1Tb hard disk every 3 months!

I've been monitoring my monthly usage for several months and most of the times it has been around 25-30gb,sometimes going upto 40-50gb.

In the long run the important thing is video streaming should be smooth and shouldn't interrupt your other tabs while loading and you should be able to download something instantly if you want it.

That would be the case if you store up everything! :)
You can always delete un-useful stuff, like a movie, after watching it [think like you have gone to a movie theater and seen it].
And with greater speeds available one can always download it back, if one wants.

So space constraint is actually not a argument.
FUP is FUP. :)

Yeah but no FUP in New Delhi plans!

Re: OMFG...Did anyone notice the new Airtel plans for Mumbai !!!

FUP angers me so much. We should all write letters to TRAI asking for the legitimacy of such a thing. And if it *is* legit, then is it legal to advertise such plans a '512 kbps unlimited'. Because they're *not* 512kbps unlimited. They follow a retarded FUP.

Google is introducing 1GBPS in the some areas in the US. GIGA BYTE. GIGA. *drool*. And here in India we max get a 2mbps unltd connection, that too with a useless FUP.
