difference between ps3 and gtx 460 gpu

i want to know is there any performance difference in pc gpu gtx 460 and ps3/ xbox 360 ...

as you can also use gamepad on the pc ..

so why xbox 360 is so costly 21.5k while you can get a good gpu (gtx 460 or 5850 ) for that ..:S:S

advantage i think-

1) blue ray support

pc gpu advantage-

1) no jailbreak needed

2) games not costly

3) can be overclocked

4) not costly

5) and if you are xbox 360 gamepad fan than you can also get this for pc also by spending 2000 inr

disadvantage of gpu

1) i think no disadvantage is there ..

then why so many people want to buy ps3/ xbox why not gpu
 
One word - "Games"

Comparing PC & Console gaming is, to mention an oft repeated statement, "like comparing apples to oranges". PC gaming investment is a never ending story. The moment you finish upgrading to a faster & better CPU/GPU, Voila!!! here is an another one that you "must" buy.

With consoles, that is not the story. Buy one and you are set for a long time. My PS1 lasted me for 4 long years, PS2 lasted me for nearly 8 years, Xbox 360 lasted me for 2 years before I got bored & sold it. Just bought PS3 which I'm pretty sure will last me a long time and I can forget about upgrading till the next console comes in another 4 or 5 years.

Also, PS3 exclusives [unlike Xbox 360] don't find their way to PC. And they happen to have some of the best games ever designed in the history of games.
 
xbox is nowadays only around 13-14k............. and ps3 for 16k range..............

as fas the comparison goes ps3 gpu is approximately equivalent to 8800 graphics card........... so a gtx460 or 5850 will easily beat it.....

and rest about games........ any fps is better playable on a pc with mouse and keyboard than a xbox or ps3 controller............. and personally i feel the same for racing games too (opinions might differ on racing games from person to person)...........
 
Consoles are dedicated Gaming Platforms.

Just like a camera phone and a DSLR.
 
Actually OP, you are right. Even though consoles are one time investment, the games are really very costly(atleast for countries where PC games are way cheaper than console games like India, Russia, Thailand etc). Also any game looks and plays better on a good PC if ported properly.

But due to heavy piracy on PC, the consoles are better options for investment for game makers. To make ppl buy a console, companies produce exclusives. Companies spend insane amount of money to produce and market an exclusive. Look at the costs of PS3 exclusives. OR look at the money Microsoft threw to produce Gears of War and Halo series.
There are many advantages of playing on a PC over console, but sadly due to heavy piracy, this platform now receives step-motherly treatment by game makers.
 
but piracy is also there in sony ps3 .you can jailbreak it and can use pirated cds ...but it is difficult to do...

@descreator- i was planning to buy a gpu + psu for my pc and hence for this my budget was hovering around 17k ...then second thought came into my mind about ps3/xbox console...but someone told me that the performance of pc gpu is better than ps3/xbox..thats why i am asking why people are going toward ps3/xbox...but from Sugat i come to know that there are some game exclusively produced for ps3 but i have also heard of some emulators available for pc which can run these games on pc too and for piracy issue piracy is everywhere even in sony ps3 ...

so my question remain unanswered till now my question is which one offer good performance whether pc gpu or ps3/xbox..

and i also know it might feel to some ps3 fans that i am comparing apple with orange ...but such question comes in mind of every buyer who is investing 17 to 25 k for a good gpu ..

err...i think you got it wrong. There is no emulator to play PS3 or XBox 360 games on PC. There is a emulator for PS2 but even that doesn't run satisfactorily.

PS3 was jailbroken just very recently that is good 4 yrs after PS3's launch, but Sony has come up with new firmware. Everybody will have update their PS3 to play new games. Piracy was never a problem for PS3 , even if it did exist, it didnt exist at as large scale as PC.

Piracy exists for Xbox 360 but even there it is very less. Most ppl on Xbox play Online so ppl dont chip their Xbox.

Ppl who chip their Xbox lose all warranty and can't play online. Even if you play only offline, considering Xbox has history of RRODs , chipping the Xbox is a big risk ppl take.

The point is piracy on console is negligible and manageable compared to PC. According to NPD, for year 2009-2010, 79% of revenue for game makers came from consoles and only 21 % from PCs. I think that pretty much sums it all.

Its a absurd comparison your doing and kinda very old one. it was better to do some googling before u posted this.

See console gaming is actually more fun and pure gaming in every sense. not like PC gaming, although i am a PC lover.

For RPG's and "true FPS" nothing comes close. and in similar fashion some of the FPS games in consoles will never come

close to FPS games, talking abt game qlty here.

and not to mention buy the system, buy the game, pop the disc and be done with it ease. its like nothing else.

and yea 90% PS3 exclusives will never come to PC. X360 may come to PC.

so weigh your needs and jump in.

and yea 360..piracy is possible. in a large way. in ps3, scene just started.

Xbox 360 piracy is even bigger the way games are leaked weeks before the offical release.
 
it will be better if u think about what games u want to play then which gives u better performance

i u want to play
Gears of War and Halo series got for xbox360

or
god of ware
infamous
killzone2
killzone3
un1 and un2 +u watch bluray go for ps3

but when u go for console make sure u have a high def TV with out that its not worth buying this gen consoles

and for pc games
gtx460 is very good gpu (but keep in mind that very old PC with good gPu is also useless)
for us in India all PC games come for (500 to 999) so best option for me is PC (i won xbox 360 and ps3 and pc with gtx470 i like playing on pc >xbox360>ps3 )
but there are lot of games which are exclusives to console

so it comes to what games u want to play

but as per the game ind.. it is not essay to mod a console for a non techie(warranty lose) so there will be lot of people how will not mod there consoles

but with pc its just copy past the exe. any one can do it

that's is why they say PC is most effected

Just curious but what could the remaining 10% titles (you are referring to in this context i.e.) be? Since the term exclusive itself implies privilege. None of the PS3 exclusive titles AFAIK have ported to PC nor will ever be. How can it be termed an exclusive title then?
