Dirt cheap Edge phone for downloading

I need a dirt cheap edge enabled phone with pc connecting cable or bluetooth. nothing else matters. The phone will be sitting and downloading only. Call diverting option must be there.

just to help u choose one, i would recommend nokia 6630 in good shape...

I am using it for 3 yrs now without a problem with 2Gb card, tones of apps it being S60 and its 3G ready* (read 384kbps) too. Prefer S60 phone at least...

Nokia 1680 classic (~Rs 2400) or Samsung E1117 (~Rs 1700 - please confirm if it has EDGE as the Samsung website is not clear on this)

Edit: On recheck I find that only The Mobile Store claims the E1117 has EDGE so I suppose you can drop it off the edge from your list of choices.

That nokia sounds just about right for me. I doubt its available anymore though. Are you selling one?

No I'm not selling one. Just suggested it. It should be available as it is a running model.

In fact a week or two ago it was available at a pretty good price of about 2300 odd on ebay at a time when the Rs. 250 coupon was around. You would have got it for just over 2 K.

It is listed on Univercell and The Mobile Store at between 2500 and 2600.

I found connectivity options( like setting the proxy, not many procedures to follow) are better in sony phones... though you can use any brand.. btw new versions of s40/s60 don't allow proxy for third party phone apps( eg gmail app, opera mini etc.), but i guess you have full internet connection that doesn't require proxy..

If speed is going to be a concern then I suggest you go for a phone with Class 32 EDGE instead of just Class 10. Difference would be around 25% boost.

however be prepared cos most ports are closed and downloading via torrents is a waste of time.
