Restrict P2P section to the regular members. have a restriction of like 75/100 posts.. x amount of rep and a particular joining date.
The P2P section should be something of benefit to the Members of the community.. not for some god knows who to come nd find an easy way to dl the latest pr0n release.

+1 for that :hap2:

hello all

looking for invitation for deamonoid or desitorrent
wondered if anyone can help me out

best regards

longs

P2P section and especially the Torrent Invite thread, was made just for bringing new members and helping SEO and nothing else. Regardless of how much it may piss off the existing members, TechEnclave would be dumb to delete that thread considering the amount of hits it gets them. not to mention new members (more members = "Bigger" forum)

FYI, the thread was started a good 15 months into TE's existence. It was made to consolidate and limit all the 'invite' posts to one thread.

And, have u looked at who the early posters are in that thread? TE's own regular members. It gained its present popularity many months later on. It has brought in a few members no doubt, but u n me and everyone else here know the 1-post wonders do TE no good.

No point in deleting the thread.. restrict the ppl who can access it .. Mods/Admins kno how they can ..

U never kno wen a loner mite come and just cuz he has to get the post counts up gets addicted and eventually is beneficial for that person and community as well ...

I kno cuz i came in search of Tintin comics links which were at some Arena sorta site.. ;)

I am not disagreeing with that since the one hit wonders don't go any good. however, do you deny that Torrent Invitation's one hit wonders hurt TechEnclave? when I say that, I don't mean contributing to the community, but rather, getting new members and giving an illusion of forum being bigger than it really is. so while it may contain annoying ignorant people asking for invites, it gets TE more members. whether those new annoying ignorant members contribute is another thing;) you could post restrict it, but I don't think it will do any good; other than to increase spam by people desperately trying to reach the minimum post count limit.

PS: No disrespect meant. we're all sharing our personal opinions here:)

I have failed to understand and also get decent explanation from people who don't like idea of thread that gets new members. How does it hurt TE? It does not. And why should anyone have problem with no of members? Plenty of members are active and contribute and thats what matters. Leave those one post wonders out, ignorance is bliss. They are not hurting much.

PMs from people can be PITA, I agree. I have 40 unread PMs in my box from such people. But its not much of pain to simply hit delete and ignore that message ;)

If a choice can be provided to member to only receive PMs from people with certain amount of posts then well and good but I have not seen any such provision in VB or atleast I am not aware of it.

If admins can make some sort of hack for this then good. But its unfair to restrict all new people from using PM. Why hurt those genuine members?

And the existence of one post wonders have perfectly good explanation. They are desperate to get torrent invites ;)

You can ignore the section if you are not interested. As simple as that.

^ If i may ask, how many invite request PMs have u actually received since u signed up on TE? and how many have u asked? ;)

I've been in TE for a long time now, invites request received so far - 0; Invites request sent so far - atleast 5 (not sure)

talk about torrent pm's...
i just got one which asked me to sell that person a stick of RAM. also the person would be extremely pleased if i would sell him a particular motherboard nd proccy too... now.. since when did i start a shop without knowing abt it myself?

you can ask people not to pm you and if they do so repeatedly report it for the mods to take action.

I would not implement any restriction on PM space since I personally have received pm's from some people with pc's under 30 with some geniune questions on hw etc

hm. As of now . I've been affected too . not much of a bother , but i hope it doesnt start becoming one

what about limiting the number of pm's a noob can make in a day ?

Again, there is no valid reason to implement that. Sometimes a query from someone is replied over multiple PMs. A n00b with genuine queries will be handicapped.

besides, just bring it to mods' notice if u see any abuse of PMs and suitable action will taken against the erring member. :P
