^^ exactly thats what i'm trying to tell...
so wat cud be wrong?

I am no electronics whiz - but I would suspect a short or a defective component - like a leaking capacitor ? Look on the MoBo - could also be inside the SMPS.

Remove everything from cabinet and keep SMPS MoBo and display card only on table (not on the antistatic bag of the mother board) with no other wire or cable connected to MoBo - not even keyboard and mouse - and see if display seems OK and if it does then build the setup outside the case part by part and maybe you will find the defective component. If you have already done this and had no luck then ....... PICK UP THE DARNED COMPUTER AND SHAKE THE HEEBIE JEEBIES OUT OF IT AND KICK THE CASE AND LET IT KNOW WHO IS THE BOSS .... it should work fine after that ... J/K OK..... !!!

Ahhh ... I said this in another thread and SunnyBHAI actually did this - The innocense of youth !! :D

^^ yep i read ur thread m8. i have tried the clear cmos jumber setting too but no help.

@Eazy: I liked that part -

PICK UP THE DARNED COMPUTER AND SHAKE THE HEEBIE JEEBIES OUT OF IT AND KICK THE CASE AND LET IT KNOW WHO IS THE BOSS

hehe...i wanted to do it but my mobo is still under warranty :D

c'mon friends help me out...else i'll have to take it to my dealer which i hate to do. :P

first, try booting without the RAM man, you tried it already?

also, think it cud be a bent pin issue as Nikhil pointed, coz i faced the exact same thing when the pins of my cousin's celeron were bent, i know uve reassembled it, but whats wrong in checking again?

could also be a case of bios going kaput, or low voltage perhaps, check the above and reply for further assistance...

does the setup work outside of the case? Take a magazine or something, rest the motherboard on it and see if the system works. If it does, then there's a contact problem between the motherboard and case. If it doesn't, borrow a friend's PSU and try again.

Also, I came across this site, they have a very handy flow-chart structure for diagnosing problems. Take a print-out from the cafe and test it out.

yeah..checked without RAM...wil check that again..

and the CPU is alright...i have checked it properly. atleast the pins are :P

how do i know if there's a problem with BIOS??...the fans not spinning..no activity.

wat abt low voltage? elaborate...

@tracerbullet..the setup doesn't work even outside the case.

thanx for the diagnostic flow chart. :)
