Discrepancy by BSNL?

I dont understand whether this is a discrepancy on BSNL's part:mad: ?

I connect to my Data1 connection & start dnld ing using P2P(Torrents) via the uTorrent client.
Although uTorrent is showing my dnld 2 b 2.6GB
but acc 2 BSNL its approx 2.94GB

I've found out this difference whenever I've dnld using p2p.

Moreover I cant chk this while surfing the net.

But the difference bcomes glaring when I dnld.

N.B. :- After connecting 2 the net I've done nothing xcept opening uTorrent:no:
& none of my programs were accessing the net

umm.. maybe uploads being counted too ?? or windows update... ??
I've disabled my Windows Update
& abt upload, if u look at d scrshot carefully u will find that upload & dnld is segregated
Upload is marked as Sent
Dnld as Received

There is also one more thing that BSNL is doing. They give only 1/8 of your download speed as your upload speed. While Airtel gives them in the ratio 1:1.

This can be a major problem for users who upload lots files like me.

Im not entirely sure if its counted,But for large torrents hash fails can take some sizable chunk of data being re-transmitted..

Sheesh, the windows connection window always shows extra stuff.. just leave it idling for 2-3 hours and it'll still have transmitted stuff.. I wouldn't count that as a reliable source of ur usage, and I doubt BSNL does either.. doesn't BSNL have a website that lets you check usage?

Actually what nukeu said is absolutely true, tracker overhead, lost packets, packet overhead etc is all counted as part of the transfer even though it is not the required information.

And 300MB for 2.5GB dl sounds about rite, its nearly the same for me on airtel at night.

^ Its 1/4th AFAIK

@ atanuroy : Yeah, its your upload counted. Why are you hiding the uploaded data stat ?

Its not abt hiding

The pop up popped up @ tht place
so..........

it got hidden automatically

No m8, like I said before in post #15 data overhead results in this "discrepancy*

Data you download is always much more then the Information you download.
