[Discussion] Backup storage over network (locally or service)

I recently hit the 15gb limit on Google photos and I'm wondering how can I backup my data (images, videos and docs) over a network (locally or service)

Requirements:
- Should be easy to use
- Should be cost effective (possibly one time solution not a subscription kind on thing)
- Should be easy to use for non tech enthusiasts (parents)

Consideration:
NAS can be a good option?

You can checkout Nextcloud, it has an at home version which can be self-hosted and is free. It has a similar UI like Google Drive, once it has been set up, and you can control the User Management however you want.
