no 512 or 1 mbps must be minimum for broadband .
and Trai or DoT must ban license of those ISPs who don't give minimum speed & those who provide Unlimited plans with Data caps .

Also that ban also include if such ISPs found giving less than minimum speed with some low rate & giving accuse with * sign stating that Trai has considered minimum speed is this but we give u this .

strict advertisement that your plan contains data cap than it will be not advertised as Unlimited plan .

but why I am expecting this much which not going to implant on anyday :ashamed:

1. Minimum speed should be 2Mbps.
2. Minimum data cap for limited plans should be 3GB.
3. 2 Mbps UL plans should cost 1000/- ( USD 20 )

Er.. 1mbps plans cost 1000/-, like the rest of the world. They need to bring down prices of the 2mbps plans to ~1500.

@Gaurish

Just my opinion on user requirements and the current worldwide tariffs. :)

Users dont *require* 2mbps. 2mbps is a privilege and should be treated like one. However, 1mbps is a necessity. People just get 2mbps to watch HD video on youtube, which again, is a privilege.

And it seems your idea of worldwide tarrifs are wrong. Check this that I just took off the Verizon website.

Even now, with 256kbps being called lower limit for broadband, companies continue to list 64kbps and 128kbps always-on connections along with broadband connections with a * sign saying TRAI does not consider them as broadband.

What WILL happen if 2mbps is put up as the lower limit is that the category of 64kbps to 512kbps will become something like always-on "narrow-band", 512kbps to 2mbps as always-on "middle-band" and only 20% of internet consumers will use "broadband" :p

Indian Broadband angle makes me sad, even our routing is awesomely sad. pings to bangladesh, china and pak are so high :/
