DishTV STB takes long time to start, light keeps blinking

Hi,
I have ZENEGA CD1004iS STB which is provide by DishTV when I got a connection. worked fine for whole year, but now I am facing problems with it.
When I power on the STB, it takes 10minutes before I get any channels. at that time the led light keep flashing very fast, as time passes its rate of blinking slows down.

After sometime, it gets stable and does not blink. that time it starts showing channels.after that it works perfectly for hours

any idea what is happening?
 
well it may not show the channels if there are clouds or if its raining,also check if the dish is properly aligned,although i don't have a dish tv,i do have BIG tv it happens sometimes when their is dark clouds.
 
Same thing is happening with my STB. Called the dish tv people up, the guy who came over told me its a normal problem that this STB is facing and i need to get it replaced. Didn't get it replace cause dish tv was asking 700rs for the replacement as my STB was out of warranty! :S
 
I just turn it ON---> OFF --->ON using the remote (and not the main switch) and then it loads up fast.Dont know why it happens but I suppose the last upgrade screwed it up.BTW.. I dont have that blinking problem.... it just stays at "loading...." for a long time.

did that and also done Software Upgrade(OTA), no effect. seems like a hardware problem I searched around and found these:

* STB Light Flashing!!!

* Zenega CD1004iS Boot problem - Satellite TV support forum & Digital TV support forum.

^^^they say the capacitor is gone kaput and needs to be replaced. is there anyway I could verify that ? to check if this really is my problem? I did open my STB, didn't find any signs of burning.

Yup I did the same thing albeit directly from the STB and it works.

They are giving bluff, its there software issue and they want to charge us for same.

Good to know thats its common one and I am not the only one.

I have the same problem and above mentioned solution works for me as well.
