In my monitors problem it made no difference moving the cable - I twisted and turned the cable and there was no difference - I did everything I could except use the power cable as a skipping rope. The repair guy said some parts needed replacing - its worked fine ever since...

GOD!!! this is hilarious!!!

Actually made me laugh aloud!!!

Well, I have also had that problem once in a way. Sometimes when the monitor is switched on and I move the monitor, like rotating it to make sure someone sitting on the bed can see it, I see that discolouration near the edges.

I just switch off the monitor and swithc it on again after 2-3 mins.... Works perfectly fine...

The display problem is back...bluish screen :(
changed the DVI VGA connector. also changed the port..using the 2nd port currently...it was fine for last 2 weeks...now its causing probs again.

help plz. :S

When you change the direction of the monitor you change its orientation with respect to the earths magnetic field. This can produce magnetisation problems with some sensitive monitors.
When you power cycle it i.e. switch it off -on the degaussing circuit inside the monitor is activated (always) which clears the magnetic field disturbance problem.

ps: whenever you power cycle any CRT the degaussing circuit is always activated.....well in most of the cases ....

Theres always the slap, boom bang method :P

Mr. Wadhwa...why are your solutions so tedious....

Dude - The best and easiest solution...Disconnect the monitor, unplug the pc....now stretch the cabling of the monitor a bit.

Carry both to the nearest windows and test to see if the laws of gravity still apply.....

ok you go do that with ur Viewsonic LCD, ill be downstairs making sure the laws still work and also make sure Murphy's law holds true as well "you find(catch) it, you keep it...

now stick to the topic and help the admin out :P

Now i know why darknight got a new LCD when he had a perfectly working 17" Monitor :bleh:... Btw i still have that cabby of yours... Shd i apply the law of gravity to it :bleh:

This will sound really weird...along with some of the weird answers here, and i didnt read all the replies...but heres a small thing you could try.
1. Is your power source for the monitor (the socket powering ur PC) next to your monitor? If yes, change the location of the monitor.
If not, goto option 2

2. Is your spike guard/ UPS next to monitor? If yes, relocate. Else goto 3.

3. Is your Cable Modem/Router (if you have one) near your monitor? If yes, relocate. Else goto option 4.

4. Are all the pins in your connector straight and present? Coz, absence of one could possibly lead to a bluish tint. If not, goto 5.

5. Do you have a microphone or a cordless k/b mouse? If yes, try testing with a one which has a cord.

Else, just change your monitor:bleh:

@Xto:
none of the above and all pins are straight and present.
i think the prob lies smwhere else.

and nope, i'm not interested in changing my monitor :bleh:

^ My suggestion is :

Not sure about your M/C - but if you have onboard GPU, try your monitor with that - if you get blue screen - good bye to your monitor.

Try a few/new DVI-VGA connectors.(I know you have tried 2 already/get a new one).

Try enabling/disabling AGP Spread Spectrum.(If you have the option in bios)
