I do everything myself except( when it comes to tearing apart the engine(main block)).I replaced the brake pads, brake master cylinder, shocks, air filter, radiator all by myself.
I also changed the gearbox oil, engine oil, differential oil,4wd transfer case oil. Also tight them to specified torque settings.

Of course you will need lots of tools ,service manuals, parts do to this and also one should not mind getting their hands and clothes dirty.

The reason why we give to service center are

1) We are scared to do it ourselves. Acquiring parts, tools etc and installing it is a time consuming activity.
2) Warranty, SC will always say that the warranty will be void if serviced outside (outside = DIY)
3) Servicing is cheap compared to foreign countries. Risky
4) Space requirement (difficult to have our own garage)

Foreigners (most of them) do servicing themselves, doesn't matter how expensive the car is. They like doing it and also the service centers charge a bomb.. I wish i could do servicing myself, but so far only small small work i have done myself

Hydraulic jack heavy duty/garage grade these have wider lift area ,once its lifted up i put jack stands(which are available of various height and weight) on all four sides or just two sides, just enough for me to slide underneath

Ok, quick update
Got the brake pads , sensor , diesel oil filter changed by the local garage that specializes in German cars
They knew what they were doing and wrapped up all the work in 1 hour tops (no fiddling around to check where the bolts or clips are so I guess they did know)
Labor charge of 2.5K - worthwhile I guess considering it would have taken me all day long on the brakes

Also, i would like to get clarity on Vehicle maintenance

1) Does Changing parts/servicing parts or any similar service related activities qualify as maintenance?
2) What about taking care of the car? Exterior, interior etc... In Short, detailing? we are maintaining our vehicle to be clean & spotless right..

I guess, if we start the topic on 2nd part, we will have a lot to discuss and keep this thread active

1 Yes
2 well this is also maintenance but its only cosmetic. But even for this there is a difference between how people do it,my neighbors friends just give a bucket of water to their driver or security guy to clean the car. They don't use the proper cloth ,they don't rinse the cloth enough, they put more micro scratches in doing so.
I do not allow any one to clean the car i do it myself.First I use pressure water to take dirt out ,then use a bucket and water with car shampoo to clean, then rinse with running water and then immediately blow dry and then wipe it dry all using micro fiber cloth and once in few months i clay and add wax.

Exactly, cleaning is not about just using water and cloth. Normal cloth introduce swirl marks & scratches everytime one uses it. Within a year or two, the paint will fade and lose it gloss and shine.
I do waterless/rinseless every week and full car wash once in a month or two, only if necessary. Plus detailing session with my friends every 4 to 6 months :)

If people interested, the detailing world open to wide array of topics to discuss :)
