hey guys i am new on te .... hope fully will get some help....i have a q6600 oced at 3.15 on stock cooler. my mb is ep31-ds3l and i got a gtx260.. i game at 1080p res... now is it worth getting a sunbeam CCF and ocing further or its just a waste of money..

zebronics geforce cabinet keep it open all the time my load temps are 72 at 3.15ghz...i havent touched the vcore as i am new to ocing i really need help dont wanna burn comp that why i asked is it worth buying ccf for a noob like me... and how much ocing will i reach

ohk..

i too tried ocin my q6600 on stock cooler...

and i too reached similar temps...got worried and a back to 2.4 now..

72 degrees is hot man..might damage in the long run..
sccf..atm not vfm as it was always touted to be...

it is at all time high...close to 3.8ks on the prime abgb site now..

next best option is to get ocz vendetta 2 ...very good cooler...comes wid a good fan...priced arnd 2.5ks..and easy to install push pin mechanism..

or get the arctic freezer 7 pro ...small ..light weight...decent enough for moderate oc and just 1.8ks

I doubt you'd get decent overclocks with a 65nm quad on that board. So first check if your board/chip/ram can do 3.4 or so, since its just a trial run, temperatures wont matter. If it does, get the core contact freezer.

Also, you might wanna check the dimensions cause its unlikely that the 120mm core contact freezer would let you replace your side panel if you ever decide to do so.

EDIT : If you are looking for alternate coolers, you might wanna check the OCZ Vanquisher, you can get it from ITWares on ebay for close to 1200, same performance as an Ultima 90/Core contact freezer 92mm.

72 pretty hot. An aftermarket cooler will surely help in ocing further and keeping temps down. I'm doing 3ghz with true cooler 60 degrees on load on stock temps.

I want to take it higher but don't know which values I should up first vcore or nbridge :S ? Cause I know the quad6600 can easily go upto 3.6 on air cooling. I am med-noob in overclocking field.

most probably SCCF 120mm won't fit in ur cabby.(check if width of ur cabby from mobo to sidepanel is loner than 160mm).

get a Thermalright Ultima 90i ~2.2k w/o FAN

+1
Ultima 90i has the best size:performance ratio, although you'll need to buy a fan seperately.
If you want more performance, get the OCZ Vendetta 2.

How much does a Vendetta 2 cost ?

About 2.6k, buy some TX2 with it, that'll be better than the paste that comes with it, also the fan on it is nearly silent, you can run it at 100% all the time.

Buy a 3-speed Table fan for rs. 1.2k if u keep cabby open

Hey im not kidding, check my rig by clicking on black button on top rite of my post(or click on spoiler content -> view rig below)

+1 OCZ Vendetta 2

3c~ cooler than SCCF120 when both heatsinks tested with same fan and thermal paste.

Differance will be more when CPU pushed more and better fan.

^ great comparison between SCCF and vendetta 2...i was thinking of buying SCCF for my e5200 overclocking...now i think vendetta 2 would be a better choice...
