Laptops Do laptops not come with LAN port anymore?

I was looking at laptops for a relative and noticed that "high end non gaming" ones don't seem to have the RJ45 LAN port. It's a big issue for us. How do you circumvent this issue? Budget is 90k for the curious.

I thought that would be the case but the port isn't specified on their high end Inspirons. They were the first I had a look at.

Better to buy a USB C hub and get LAN , HDMI , USB , card reader etc - but when buying laptop with USB C port always check whether it has display out or not
All USB C ports in laptops are NOT DISPLAY OUT

Wait, if all ports are not display out then should one even bother to still check lol.

I have a 2 year old HP company laptop (Elitebook) and it has display out via USB C port. I connect it to a dock and I get power, display, and network from that one connection.

So it depends on the model.

Exactly i have a Acer which has no PD or Video out , have this SS marked port . Learnt all this hard way after buying when i wanted to use USB C for HDMI out
Check your port first - https://pibox.in/2020/08/16/devices-that-support-video-over-usb-c-compatibility/

This is my problem. I feared that the speed would be compromised if a "convertor" is used.
a usb 2.0 ethernet adapter is rated for 500mbps and a 3.0 for gigabit and obviously you wont get rated speeds but getting 200-300mbps is not an issue with a good ethernet adapter

Alas! Ethernet adapter is the only way to go or a good usb hub preferably type-c depending upon what max laptop can do like usb3.2. No other way i guess.

Video over usb c is a minefield. There is no standard. There is display port and hdmi based standards. Most generic docks will not work. Best to get a dock guaranteed by the laptop manufacturer as compatible

I have a Vivobook OLED and it has a LAN port along with 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C (1 with TB4), HDMI, full SD card reader and a 3.5mm port. I would assume most laptops in the "creator" category wouldn't skim on ports.

I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad and it came with an Ethernet port.

Of course, if you're planning on using ethernet, then it would be at a fixed position. So Dock works as well. But good docks are expensive. If you don't need display out, then you can use something cheaper.
