I was just reading an article on rediff.com
And just by chance happened to read this comment.
I have only gone to singapore and south korea. Frankly they are not much different than india. So i dont know what this USA or UK is like. I agree that our top cities are not doing so well but look at this guys comment, WTF.
What is this third world country?? Even we eat pizzas, ride in ferraris, watch movies on plasma, test nuclear bombs.
There is a lot of inequality but its been only 60 years since we are independent, we have progressed very nicely i believe. While US is independent since around 250 years. So whats the big deal? :chair: :blabla:

I am an American citizen born to Indian parents. My parents left India when I was 4 (in 1987). I have grown up in America and I find myself more in sync with American way of thinking which leads to sometimes a few go clashes with my parents!! Anyways, last 2-3 years I have read, heard a lot of optimism about India (mostly from Indian students here). So I decided to come to India and even my parents thought that it would be a different country to what it was in 1987 when they left! I did a 10-weeks tour of India, from June-August this year! Mannnn-I really felt it to be a hardcore THIRD WORLD COUNTRY! I went to Mumbai-found it nothing more than a huge garbage dump, the whole city stinks and even when the plane is landing, one can notice so many slums. Well, if that's the financial capital of country, wow, I was wondering what the other places would be like! Almost all the cities were the same (ofcourse didn't stink as much as Mumbai). New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata-bad roads, ill-maintained civic infrastructure, traffic congestion-crap everywhere! I mean no wonder Indians are lining up to run towards greener pastures! I think India has no chance to be ever counted amongst the top league nations of the world! What is first world-I think India and Indians have no idea about it. Hahaha-Mumbai-the economic powerhouse-a third class city indeed of a third class country. I am so happy my parents migrated when I was young-now I know how lucky I am to be an American citizen!
