This Cartoon was aired during 1990's (somewhere between 1993 and 1996). I suppose there was no Star Plus but just Star TV back then.

Anyways here is the description: It was the show shown before G.I.Joe. A plane crashes. The pilot removes the wheel of the plane. The wheel has a briefcase like attachment to it and it transforms into a bike. When The Pilot presses a button it turns into a Small Mecha suit.

I am pretty sure it was an Anime but I don't remember the faces of the characters. But, outlandish transformations and robots point fingers in that direction. Since I am not sure if it is an Anime or not I didn't post it in Anime Fans thread.

I just saw 1 episode and this all I could remember. I used to watch G.I.Joe only so didn't care about this series back then.

Does anyone remember this series? Please tell me the name of this cartoon series.

P.S.: I don't believe I remembered Time Bokan which was shown before this and still remembered enough details to find it's name.

NO, but now u helped me start a headache; sometime ago I had stopped thinking about a 1990s film which had the song "Hawa Hawa" by Hasan Janagir which I used to do a lot & now saw this post & just resurrected it. Happy hunting, hope u dont find out the name of the anime series. Im off to google...

@sid: Spot on Mate. Used the following as keywords from your reply "robotech armor cycle" and youtube came up with this:

YouTube - MOSPEADA Cyclone Conceptual Trade Promo

This is exactly the anime I was looking for.

Sid is this a part of the Macross saga? Because at Wikipedia they just address this as just Robotech series 85 episodes in 3 seasons as if it is a separate series.

The Macross universe is huge and if this is a part of it and relies on it's predecessors I am at a loss (I haven't watched any) and I will have to let this one go. This is one reason I can't watch the Gundam series as well.

@jahire2: Just to increase your headache a bit more. The song modified and sung in a film. The song was called "Jawa Jawa". Here is a clue Govinda sung it onscreen.

Robotech was just a merging of 3 different unrelated anime afaik. This is from the 3rd part. You can go ahead and watch it directly since it isn't really realated to the first 2 series.

Like bottle pointed out, the Robotech TV series is a culmination of three separate storylines. I remember the Macross saga pretty well but couldn't quite accurately recollect the saga in which the armor cycle was first introduced. As far as i know, the only mention of the armor cycle is on youtube in the 3rd saga called "Robotech: The Next Generation"/"Genesis Climber MOSPEADA".
According to wikipedia, the Robotech saga(originally aired in 1985) is the english dubbed, edited and americanized version of three different Japanese Mecha Animes.
1) The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (3 October 1982 - 26 June 1983) JPN = Robotech: The Macross Saga (4 March 1985 – 22 April 1985) USA

2) The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross (15 April 1984 – 30 September 1984) JPN = Robotech: The Masters (23 April 1985 – 24 May 1985) USA

3) Genesis Climber MOSPEADA (2 October 1983 – 23 March 1984) JPN = Robotech: The New Generation (27 May 1985 – 28 June 1985) USA

Thanks Guys.

I thought since the series combined the stories of Macross and 2 other animes it would require me to have some prior knowledge of Macross to understand what is going on.

I am surely going to watch this.

I have got to say Macross and Gundam franchises are huge. It is hard for a guy like me to just pick it up and start watching them.

Macross isnt as huge as the Gundam series  Would recommend you start with Macross and then decide whether you want to watch southcross and mospeada.
If you want to get started on Gundam you can take a shortcut and start with Seed which was a rehash of every previous Gundam series

Not into mecha anime. I just remembered this series because a friend gave me the Centurions Series and will give me the G.I.Joe series as soon as he gets it.

I watched Jake (Land based or Yellow centurion) use this transforming bike. G.I.Joe was already on my mind and suddenly it struck me. Wasn't there an episode of a bike that turned into a robot encapsulating the rider? And I began googling for it. I couldn't get the correct results anywhere so I posted this thread.

@sid: I watched the 1st 2 episodes of Robotech. When do I get to see the bikes? The planes transformation was awesome. Reminded me of starscream for some reason :P

Even if I want to watch Macross where can I get the whole series it is blacklisted on a lot of sites <- Mind you I am not asking for links so don't blacklist me.

As i mentioned the bike only comes in the 3rd part so no point watching Macross which would be the first 25-30 episodes of robotech.
Not sure where I downloaded but can't seem to find it now. Try googling around on popular BT trackers

Yup! Jumped to the 3rd part just to check if the bike transforms or not (it does :yahoo:). I am watching it serially though.

I have got to say, that normally I don't hate characters from animes except Kougaiji's mom from Saiyuki series. But, there is something about Minmei that irritates me a lot. She is like a stupid bimbo - full of herself. Even the bad guy who resembles Doc Teror from Centurions is likable to some extent.
