Do you like being called a geek?

I like being called a geek... but sometimes i prefer not to show the knowledge i have coz some people think that i am praising my self and making them feel inferior... Even if i try to help them they look at me in a weird way :(... And yes i agree with most of the people who said that others feels jealous coz they dont have the skills that you have... Actually i dont agree with the part that people who are geeks and not very social they should be called nerds... Actually some people are born that way... Some geeks dont speak much and are a bit introvert that doesn't mean that they should be called nerds... :) Actually nerds are totally different people... They dont have sense to how to talk to people... how to dress... how to maintain themselves (yes even men do this :P), how to make friends and get along with people... How to impress girls... etc etc :D
 
Though the current poll results can hardly be called conclusive based on numebrs but it increasingly seems that people on TE do not have any qualms about being called a geek. On the contrary they like it.
 
I don't like being called a nerd, because as the OP says it points to somebody who is obsessed with technology as opposed to someone who has an interest in it, a la a geek.

hmm dont know what to say :P but still why are people so insecure about thier social skills? i get around people and i frankly dont care about what others call me
 
Don't care, and now I don't know what I voted for :bleh:
Team mates at office consider me an Internet junkie for all the online activity I have.
I am approached when any of my team mates want to buy any computer related h/w or mobile phone. But after one botched suggestion, I only list the features to anyone. To buy or not to buy is nothing of my biz. I leave it up to them even if they beg me to decide.
 
I really dont care about what people call me :P . My closet friends call a weird name that might piss of people .

Rest , I just make sure that my tech life and my social life have proper balance ;)
 
I think Movies have a great role in painting a bad picture about geeks.If you love your tech life you should be proud of being called a geek.
 
People call me Tech Guru @ office and expect that I should know everything about all electronic gadgets present in the world.

To them I just say I have keen interest in pc hardware and smartphones but please don't expect more than that. If you want to know about something , help yourself and google it.

I do not feel offended if someone call me geek or something else. I know who I am.
