Okay, so I'm going to buy a 40" Series 5 EH5600 and was just reading stuff online and heard a lot about the panel lottery though I could not get anything for this model. So I want to know whether it does affect this model or not.And if it does, should I really have to worry if I get a inferior panel i.e not the SMVA?

Yes, samsung panel lottery will be there for series 5 models like ES5600, EH5000, EH5300 , even in 6 series they have panel lottery scheme.

Why do you want SMVA? its the most average among the three panels used,
SPVA: very good
AMVA: Good
SMVA: Average.

If you want guaranteed SPVA then buy the sony 40EX650, may cost around 45k in grey market.

How to check panel in EH5000 ?

Switch off using remote, then Press info, menu, mute, power buttons at a brisk pace one after another. this is service menu, as your tv is 40inch just look for something like Type: 40A6AF0D or 40R6AF0D, note this down as we can decode panel type from this, Then switch off the tv.
