Forum Feedback Doesnt Make Sense

But why would any seller want to quote a ridiculus price and not expect to be questioned about it? I don't think mods should pay attention to such complaints.
Like SC pointed so, this is not ebay where buyers just try their luck. This is TE, where the more knowledgable members help out newcomers.

Any seller, who 1st prices his product ridiculously, and then has the audacity to complain if someone points it out, should be given negative reps.

99.9% of the people who use the market section are veterans who know what they want and what a fair price is

If you want to take care of the remaining 0.1% noobs who use the market section(I havent seen any yet),ur gonna have to spoonfeed them

So I think the market section is fine just the way it is

it takes a X work to make something foolproof

and it takes 100*X work to make it mega-foolproof

and i doubt anyone has got scammed on TE yet coz the existing rules are good enough to prevent anything like that from happening and people coming here are smart enough

seller highballs, buyer lowballs and everyone plays tennis

:) The very purpose of a tech forum is defeated if we allow people to quote obscene prices in the market. Consider if a newbie tomorrow finds out that we are actually cheating them then it is hard for anyone to believe the other stuff being posted in TE.

Example: Someone can say that buy the x psu because it is good. Two three other guys support him and later we find out they are all fleecing the buyers. I know such things do not happen and for the past one year(almost) I had a very good experience in TE. But stii I personally strongly feel that it is the duty of the TE staff and other gurus to inform any potential buyers about actual costs of stuff and help him out. This should not turn to a marketplace with everyone trying to push forward goods with some profit in mind. It defeats the purpose of the forum.

Da solution 2 da problem:

Let buyers ask for ny info in the forum other than the market section. now tey know da prices, tey can decide whether they wanna buy or not.

Let the sellers ask ne price, if it sells, good for them, if it doesn't, the buyer did his job well then.

No arguments!:P

^ Well put across :)

But the point here is - what do we do in cases where the thread starter requests for certain posts in his thread to be deleted? There are very recent market threads where posts highlighting ridiculous prices have been left intact. But if the seller complains about a post, we have no option but to delete it.

Thats exactly the prob...can't deleting posts be at the discretion of the mods...

I mean...the thread starter wanted to point out that some second hand stuff was being sold for more the market rate of a new piece. I mean deleting that post on the insistence of the seller ( i could be wrong here...but i just wanted to give an example) is not at all fair.

I agree that buyers always look for profit. Buy cheating someone (intentionally or otherwise..) shouldn't be encouraged.

Its a good thing that no one is being cheated now :) ...but with 10k + growing members...eventually we'll face a lot creeps who may need controlling... I didn't want to offend anyone...just wanted to play good samaritan :P

Guys I think most of the points put forward by you all are very valid. We'll discuss this out and let you all know by tomorrow.

You are right the purpose of the forums is to provide the best price to both buyer and seller (and of course to eliminate middlemen on bazee or local dealer). And not to tilt the balance in anyone's favor.
