double speed upgrade for every one ? No

guys recently i spoke to an airtel cc executive reg. Double speed upg. during june. I was told dat dis is only for 256kb/s customers who get 512kb/s upto 5gB , after which the speed reverts back to 256kb/s. For other customers there is no speed upgrade. Is this true ? I had to believe in this cuz unlike the BS bsnl cc they dont give wrong info. what do you guys think about this ?

Nopes.. I'm getting 1MBps on my 1099 512K plan for the past 20 days.
 
@striker10 - May i know in which part of Chennai you have your connection ?. Because i was told by the airtel CC that the speed upgrade is only for 256k customers with a FUP of 5gB. Very confused....
 
Forget about the FUP, the free double speed wont last for ever. Its just offered for 3 months after which it will revert back to your original plan speeds.

Whereas if you go for double speed top up for Rs100, the FUP applies as that of your original plan.

Guess what, i had 256 Kpbs UL from Airtel and topped up for Rs100 double speed and FUP i guess should be around 100 GB since my original plan has 100 GB FUP.

Now for the past few days i am getting 1MBPS speeds because of the free double speed and i will have to inquire about the FUP.

I shall post an update about it once i get some info from Airtel

Dude Wtf...I'm from mylapore too and I'm in 1699 plan(1mbps unlimited). Now I'm really thinking if i should go for the 1099 plan :S
 
With the last month bill i got a handout from airtel which explained about the double speed for all ... not for 256kbps customers alone.
 
Double speed offer is applicable for everyone.

And all of airtel customer's speed (upto 1mbps) gonna get doubled by the end of june free of cost.
 
^^ And the double speed has separate data transfer limits (Not referring to FUP limit) for each month after which the speeds will revert to regular speeds.
 
Earlier my speeds went to 512Kbps for upto 5Gb and came down(since 2 months)..

But this month..

Even after 7GB UL/DL i am still getting 512...

It depends sometimes...

It goes to 256 for a few hours and reverts back to 512..

What is this?
 
I'm on the 1699 plan (1 Mbps unlimited plan) + Rs.100 for the double speed upgrade, so 2 Mbps. No FUP whatsoever before or after the double speed offer. In fact whenever I call customer care and I'm behind my router the Airtel chaps tell me I have only a phone line and no broadband connection (I've been with Airtel for close to 4 years now)! As soon as I unplug the router and connect directly to my modem they go "Sir it just showed up, must have been a problem on our end".

There's something odd about their FUP, I cross the limit every month with ease and nothing happens. Oh and for the record ...... I live 5 minutes away from Mylapore :P

Do you guys have any idea what plan I could opt for that would work out to less than 1k a month? Will be living the city for at least a year and my dad would only surf wiki and check his mail everyday.
