Have you EXPERIENCED Apple service before?

They are not getting the top satisfaction scores for nothing...

Hehe, no

I was refering more to

"RED carpet welcome" when you go to the so called other service centers

Since going to service center is not required (its onsite)

And

but he will live with that longer. rather than having a device that he has to work upon than working with it...

Since Thinkpads are just as reliable (They provide upto 7 years warranty, so they trust their own product as well)

Go through this thread for apple india experience(it also includes a lengthy post by a TE member who worked at apple india):http://www.techenclave.com/laptops/macbook-problem-apple-india-support-refusing-190376.html

Aargh!!!
The same thread again and again...

Guys! Apple can't be deceided as a worst service provider if one rare case gets published Especially here...

Google and find a lot worse stories about others..
PLease check there are also threads which praises laurels about the same apple support...

Reg apple employee..In general not employees are satisfied with the employer (He might be an actual whistleblower or He may try to tarnish the image since he might not have got his cut)

This is not done, you are attacking ronit personally for sharing his experience here

Seriously Apple has got such fan following that people will go to any extent to justify their favorite brand.

please stay on topic guys. help the thread starter.

ignore/report fanboy and anti-fanboy comments as your replies are not going to change anyone's beliefs. Also, don't feed the trolls.

I don't take apple users seriously - i see you have a huge pile of iCrap with you. Have you opened your eyes to see if you get better products and better service elsewhere rather than behaving like a sheep doing what you are being told to do everytime. Anyways I never cared or respected apple and now with Stevie gone its a matter of time before Apple folds up! And Yes i do believe i can change the world with my HP/Thinkpads because I get work done on those and not spend hours looking at an aesthically pleasing os with zero productivity and uncapable applications and no scope for gaming like you. Peace my friend!

Btw I got rapid solutions(in under 24 hours from dell) to my malfunctioning/upgrades to my devices from Dell/MSI and HP. Red carpet welcome is given to suckers who buy the cartload of manure apple provides. You are given a red carpet welcome for spending for the iExperience and all. Bet you would bend over if Steve asked you to, Mr.Fanboy.

people stopped taking you seriously a long time ago.heck you didnt even bother helping the op and then reserving criticism in what kind of service he gets.apple is ranked top 3 in customer service in all products and thats called a fact.

Guys Guys Guys, this is no war between iFanbois or us PC Users, People have thier own choices few wanna blow money on (Bad hardware but good software like Macs ) and few prefer (Good Hardware but Mediocre OS like Windows), Its us who choose what we want, so lets get past this fact and help the OP

My Suggestion .... if you are capable of swapping hard disk try doing so and reinstall OSX but make sure you perform a format with the disk utility before installing , if no go , take it to service center, and tell them the symptom, if they probe you and get the truth out of your mouth ..be honest (your bad luck) if they forget asking how this happend ( your luck) if you are lucky it also gives you a feel good factor that you didnt have to lie, cos it would be thier mistake cos they didnt ask

^^@vantheman5211 -- Apart from the fact that I do write some reviews here in TE and some of them have received some positive feedback(mostly from non apple users) and have helped some sensible although financially deprived souls to make some informed decisions in TE! Although i wish I could educate you about the finer nuances of technology but then then would be a fruitless pursuit seeing the amount of iBranded manure you have accumulated in your signature. BTW Apple is third in customer satisfaction behind some non apple based manufacturers! Sacrilege! Apple shall sue them now for being so prompt and considerate in dealing with customers with faulty products while selling more pieces which perform better and are built better than the ridiculously priced apple garbage!

@ Op serves you right for buying an overpriced lousy underperforming piece of junk from Apple. Now live with it! Too bad if it was a dell you would have got the problem fixed in 24 hours. HP and lenovo would do that for their business laptops in 3 and 5 days respectively. There's a lot more to looks in life!

Act dumb and behave like computer n00b @ the service center -- they guys at apple would believe you anyways!

Try getting it done in 3 days from HP yourself and report back!

HP in India does not provide any kind of accidental damage protection even for their Elitebooks.

Do you seriously believe anyone cares about what you think about Mac users(hope you do know the difference between Apple and Mac).

Congratulations!for changing the world with your super productive HP dm1z.

Try to help o.p if possible, otherwise go get a bear or play some outdoor games.

@satan,tell your friend to repair permissions first,if it does not help

Do a clean install, remove boot camp first, make a single partition(Lion takes abnormally long time) and do a clean install

Well we should accept that no product can be a perfect product. My friend had his reasons for purchasing a Macbook pro. We searched for whole one month and then finally decided on it. One was obviously Mac os, compactness, battery backup, looks. We had only Dell XPS in the reckoning but then dropped it due to its bulkiness. I believe every product available in the market is justified depending on moolah, requirements, needs, etc.

Anyways staying on topic: Service center guy tried to re install OS but it failed. Finally he told that, they will replace HDD. I just hope they don't find any evidence of physical damage when they open it. Keeping fingers crossed :)

finer nuances of technology my ass

MBP's are the best portable computers you can get for your money. Personally I find them better than any Dell, HP, Lenovo or Acer and I have recommended them a lot. In fact, MBP's are the only Apple product in last 15 years that I think deserves to be called great and the only thing worth buying from Apple. That said, all Mac OS versions starting with Tiger are pretty lousy to do anything really serious. I find MBP's run Windows XP or Windows 7 a lot better than Mac OS. Windows 7 on a fully spec'ed out MBP is the perfect portable workstation.

As far as after sales service is concerned, they are just as lousy as the competition. My previous company was a corporate customer of Apple considering the sheer volume of Apple MBP's, iMac's, Mac Pros and other products that were procured and used, but the service was never good enough to be called anything but average. We had a bunch of MBP's that were used as portable workstation's. They were stressed a lot with > 80% CPU load for 10~12 hours a day with our work which is what/how they are meant to used and how they differ from the regular MB's. But when they started failing one after another, instead of fixing or replacing them, they started blaming us saying that we are stressing them a lot. Heck, my company did not purchase them at such a premium (1.6Lac each) for them to be used 4 hours a day at less than 50% load. There were many other instances where they grudgingly provided support and probably only because they would have been sued otherwise.

For retail customers, I guess its all a matter of luck as far as after sales service is concerned regardless of whether you buy from Apple or any of the competition. There are a tonne of customers who have just as bad experiences with Apple, Dell, HP or Lenovo. All of them are equally lousy with support.

Please Please Please, try out a T/X series Thinkpad, and its associated A.S.S

Having seen what all my R61 (and the other 1.5k at college) have gone through, I can say for sure, you wouldnt face those issues in Thinkpads

T and X series tps are more expensive than mbps.

Lattitudes are better than t series lappies.

And Windows really suck on MBPs,the battery life is bad,the superb touchpad becomes very average(It is Apple~s fault though)

Sent from my galaxy s2 with tapatalk pro.

I dont think anyone personal experience matters here . Dont take me wrong . Read further.

No company in this world can achieve a 100% ASS from users and I mean no company . You are bound to have good and bad experiences with companies ASS. But the point that matters is how often you get good service.

Dell is regarded the best ASS in India but I have had people who have had bad experience , HP is regarded as poor but I have had decent amount of people happy with it .

So , IMO its all about averages and Dell , Apple , Amazon and few others are the best in this business .

@satan194p, pm me when you have any update with respect to your MBP. I'll open this thread then.

Final Update: Service center guys kept his MBP for 4 days and returned him after replacing HDD. They din't mention anything about physical damage. So I guess its best to just play dumb :P
