Try getting it done in 3 days from HP yourself and report back!
HP in India does not provide any kind of accidental damage protection even for their Elitebooks.

Do you seriously believe anyone cares about what you think about Mac users(hope you do know the difference between Apple and Mac).
Congratulations!for changing the world with your super productive HP dm1z.
Try to help o.p if possible, otherwise go get a bear or play some outdoor games.
@satan,tell your friend to repair permissions first,if it does not help
Do a clean install, remove boot camp first, make a single partition(Lion takes abnormally long time) and do a clean install

you are wrong on this HP does provide 3 year extended warranty which covers accidental damage too , for my notebook it was 6k + 10.3% service tax

Final Update: Service center guys kept his MBP for 4 days and returned him after replacing HDD. They din't mention anything about physical damage. So I guess its best to just play dumb :P

Good to hear it, mate. Hope your friend takes more care of his MBP henceforth. Also, its best if he checks out the cost of additional extended warranty on the machine, and if needed, take it.

Link please!!I can not find it anywhere.

Walk into an HP service center and provide them with your purchase details and they will extend the warranty for the HP laptop you own.

No, they just wont.. been there more than twice.

Last year it was through some 3rd party dealers, this year they were not sure about dv6 and dm1 series.....helpline was as unhelpful as ever.

Finally received an email ;stating they will contact soon, but that did not happen in last 6 months.

Sent from Galaxy S2

Which city are you from? Maybe there's an issue with the service center of your city. There are 4--5 service centers in my city, Ahmedabad. I chose one near my office and they said they could extend the warranty for my DM1z.

Did somebody dropped their "HP laptop". Coz, Recently the discussions seems to be like it...

Few days before I was dropped my HP dv6 6121tx Laptop from bed. My heart beat was stopped at that instance since I have spent a lot of hard earned money on this machine. But I got a big relief after I checked it properly since every thing was working fine:clap: except some dents on LCD lid since it have metal chassis.

and I have searched on net and found that HP dv series have accidental damage protection also. I called HP customer care yesterday and told them about my issue. They have sent a service engineer today to my home. He have taken some photographs from various sides and told me that they would replace all the damaged parts. Impressed by HP customer care. :hap2:
