Alright so I have a 3.5" Seagate 160 gb IDE drive which I've been using with a casing by TAG. Somehow, while taking it out from my bag, it slipped out of the casing and fell on the floor. :S
So I plugged it via USB and the light in the case flashes till it gets detected by windows. Then the light turns off. It gets detected on both - the bios and via usb on windows.
I removed it from the casing and plugged it into my mobo as it has IDE and started windows. It boots and then stops at the welcome screen on both XP and Win 7.
Now, I guess there is physical damage? I can't see it on the outside but it has to be inside. The hdd was rma'ed a while back and is still in warranty (till 2012). Will they take it back? The place is like an hour away from my home so I wouldn't want to waste my time.
Can it be repaired anywhere in the western suburbs (Mumbai)?
And I tried checking it with HD Tune. It stops responding as soon as I plug in the drive.
