Im Special, gREen.
Guide
hi folks, need a pro camera to extend my hobby.
my budget is 30k. will used to capture macro, product and nature photography.
will also shoot video, mush needed.
i havent used dslr before. done some research and narrowed to D3200. is it a right choice?
and if im getting at streets(Bangalore), what will be the lowest price and any drawback like warranty and so?
the lowest i find online is 27.5k for d3200 with AF-S 18-55mm VR Kit Lens.
and should and consider other dslr like d5100 or 600d or sony's a58k which is priced at 31k.
one more thing to add up, should i get the body alone and focus on better lens or continue to get the kit lens and upgrade later?
finally, did i miss something, tell to so i can clarify.

D3200 = Does not autofocus. So you will probably wont be able to get the 5K 50mm which is brilliant for learning. But if you can learn Manual focus then you can get that.

Anyways, D3200 is a very good camera and you would be able to progress well using that.

Are you open to second hand DSLR? If Yes, A friend of mine got D7000 for 36K. I would also suggest to increase your budget and get a good body. D5200 and D700 are very good bodies.

no, i hope to learn and need manual focus. the thing im interested in dslr from mobile is optical zoom on the subject and manual focus or depth of field.
will gonna buy complete digital photography book by ben long.
is kit lens is enough for starters or 50mm wide lens is enough for my photography needs.
you are from bangalore, can you help suggest me where to get, online or streets. i saw sukh sagar mall selling dslr, is the price competitive and cover warranty, etc.
and thirdly, im open to second hand but the price you mentioned is for body or with lens?
and any idea about slt?[DOUBLEPOST=1380467380][/DOUBLEPOST]
What!!!
D3200 does autofocus. Only thing is it does not autofocus on older (sometimes cheaper) D lenses.

Its a pretty nice body if one has smaller budget.
i read it has 11 point focus and image stabilization by lens.
and d3200 supports F lens mount only or D lens too you mentioned above.

Apologies I meant that 3200 wont be able to autofocus this lens. ([link]http://www.flipkart.com/nikon-af-ni...50mm&ref=db1d25da-6372-4d8f-9d0c-4603965ebd14[/link)

I got my camera from Zoomin. You can try fotocircle in bangalore. They have good collection and offer quite good deals.

Regarding lens, it all depends on the type of photography which you want to do. The 50mm wont be enough for Macro.
The 70-300 VR is just brilliant Lens but its for outdoor shooting and Landscapes.

I dont have much knowledge on Macros.

I saw lens reversing technique by ben long on lynda.com which is great trick to shoot macros. There this ring which he used to reverse the lens. Will check on zoomin & fotocircle and post back.

I would really suggest waiting and increase your budget and get D7000.

It is a brilliant SLR and it is one of the most customizable body in less than 1l apart from 7100.

If you are on a really low budget, you can go for 50mm f1.8D with extension tubes. That would be the cheapest option. But it will be fully manual on D3200.

Other options for macro
40mm f2.8 Macro - Pretty decent but not as good as others. - http://www.flipkart.com/nikon-af-s-...Q85N&ref=e90909ad-cf9b-4d58-a938-b79621ea145a
90mm Tamron - http://www.flipkart.com/tamron-sp-a...QWHM&ref=087fc600-4f20-40b1-8952-33af916fcfcd
Still not clear about lens. Will read article regarding this. But the one you quoted is way out of budget.

But you still havent answered. Is the deal 36k is for body only or with lens too.

The reason for suggesting D3200 was that you could spend money on good lenses. Those wont serve any purpose. Keep in mind - You dont have to buy everything at once.
For portraits - http://www.flipkart.com/nikon-af-ni...GHECGPPFU&icmpid=reco_pp_historyFooter_lens_3

Dont go by the word Macro on lenses. Research bit more. For any real macro work, you need magnification of 1:1. Minimum you should be looking for is - http://www.flipkart.com/tamron-sp-a...KD6GYQWHM&icmpid=reco_pp_historyFooter_lens_2

Good lenses cost money but they will give you lot more quality pictures which inturn will keep you motivated in the hobby. If you cant afford it, get the body + 50mm prime + extension tubes. You will be happy with portraits and ok macros. When you save up, get the next lens.

And you have one more option. Whenever you need, you can rent lenses. So get the body + 50 prime. For rest of the things, rent and see if thats what you really need.

the prime lens you mentioned dosent have image stabilizations so i need to have steady else blurry pics, right?
where can i get the extension tube and where can i rent lens.
btw, recommend a telephoto lens i mentioned in my earlier post. thanks

hmmmm..........
You want IS for a 50mm prime and are ok with buying a telephoto without IS. You need to do some serious research.
